Chris and I (Charlotte) have been writing songs together for Hero of Our Time since Fall of 2001. I met Chris through guitar lessons at Parramore music. I picked up the guitar about 8 years ago, and Chris was my first and only teacher. Chris has been playing guitar since (as he likes to say) "I was in diapers". Really... he's been playing forever. The legand graces us with his presence after the fall of the great metal gods of Killing Addiciton.
Our influences include The Sundays, The Rocking Horse Winner, Dashboard Confessional, The Get Up Kids, A New Found Glory, Autumn's Wake, and The Lemonheads to name a few.
Its hard to say that we "sound like" any particular one of these bands, although they are all of great influence on us. Our sound is constantly improving and evolving to become even more expressive and emotional.
Hero of Our Time is an acoustic/emo trio from Central Florida. We consist of Chris Wicklein (guitar and vocals) and myself, Charlotte Taylor (vocals and guitar).. We're not your typical acoustic band. With a range of tunings, and variations between picking and strumming song structures, our music is dynamic, creative and expressive.
We asked Paul to join our duo as percussionist in the spring of 2002. Coming from a hardcore background, the Far From Home guitarist added a punch to our melodic and emotional sound.i After Paul moved back to California, Chris and I decided not to look for another band member.

And thus, here we are today. We took a good long break from playing out and updating this site, as you can see, but we are back at it! And, although I plan on moving to Iowa in a few months, Chris and I will continue writing songs (long distance this time). Look for new lyrics soon! We also hope to record our set of unrecorded songs, including Meghan's Song, so keep your nose to the ground for that!
