"I
don't know about this," Bree said to Josh as she touched his facial
hair. "It kinda looks like a skid mark landed on your
chin." He looked at her with hurt in his blue eyes.

"I
like it," he said softly. "You don't like it?"

"It's
silly looking. Especially on you."

"Thanks
Bree, I appreciate that," he said coldly.

"Oh
now JC, don't be like that. I'm only telling you the truth. You're
what, 25 years old? A little too old to be growing that thing," she
said harshly.

"Whatever
Bree!"

Josh
didn't look surprised when Bree pushed at his shoulders and knocked him
down. He landed flat on his back, breath knocked out of him.
"You're such a baby sometimes!" She cried out. "You
can't take criticism at all! I'm just trying to be helpful!"

"Bree,"
he wheezed. She looked at him in surprise, not realizing she had actually
knocked him down. She bent over and grabbed his hands, pulling him up.

"I'm
so sorry. Are you ok?" She asked. He couldn't tell if
she was being sincere or not, she was an actress after all. He pulled his
hands from hers and stood up. He tried to shake it off, but it happened
too many times for his taste. Whenever she got mad she would do something
physical to him, hit him on the back or knock him down. He never hit her
back either. He had every right, he believed that if you dish it out you
can take it, but he never once hit her back.

"I'm
fine. I'm going to bed." Josh turned on his heels and walked
out of he living room, his back hurting a little. A few minutes after he
had brushed his teeth and changed into his bedclothes, Bree came in the
bedroom. "I really am sorry JC," she said. She wasn't
crying though. She usually cried when she apologized, but this time she
looked indifferent. "Can I stay the night?"

"You
know what Bree, I have an early morning and I need rest. We can have
lunch or something tomorrow, ok?" Josh said as he climbed
intohis bed. Suddenly he was glad he had never asked her to move in
with him, he didn't think he could take knowing he had to sleep in the same bed
with her after she had a 'spell.'

"Yeah,
ok," Bree said softly. "I think we need to talk anyway, so
we'll have lunch." She left the room, and Josh followed her.
Silently she went out the front door of the house and he frowned a little as he
locked the door.

"What's
wrong with us JC?" Bree asked as they sat on his couch.
"There's something wrong and I want to be able to fix it."

"Bree,"
he sighed. He wanted so bad to tell her that he wasn't in love with her,
but he didn't know how. He didn't want to hurt her even though she always
hurt him. He was a nice guy like that.

"There's
something standing between us that's forcing up apart," she whispered
dramatically. She let a single tear fall and Josh felt bad. He knew
she was acting, but he hated to see a woman cry.

"Don't
cry, Bree," he said. He got up from the couch and went to get her a
napkin from the kitchen. As he was turned to the door he found her
standing in the doorway. "I got you a napkin, hun," he said
gently as he walked closer. "I don't want a napkin!" She
yelled. Josh flinched and took a step back. "I wanted you to
comfort me not run off to the kitchen! God, no wonder this relationship
sucks!"

"Maybe
it sucks because you take and take and you don't give!" Josh cried
out. Bree looked at him in anger.

"Bastard!"
She yelled as she crossed the room and pushed him. She used all her
strength and Josh landed against the refrigerator. "Who do you think
you are?" She walked to him. "Huh? You're not
perfect either!"

"I
didn't say I was," he said breathlessly. "I never said I
was." They locked eyes for a moment. Bree turned away, walking
out of the kitchen.

"I
need help, JC," he heard her say from the living room. Josh regained
himself and walked to the living room. She was sitting on the couch,
looking dazed. "I don't mean to be so mean."

"Maybe
you should talk to somebody," he suggested. She stood up from the
couch and went to him. He was standing by the front door, leaning against
it. She hugged him, and after a moment he returned the hug.

"Maybe
I should," she said as she let him go. "I'm gonna leave for
awhile, I'll call you later?" Josh only nodded as he moved from the
door. She opened it and left, and he slammed the door after her.
Josh knew that she wouldn't go see a professional like he meant and he suddenly
realized that he might have to be mean to her to get to see that she was
scaring him.

Bree
was sitting on a park bench when Lance sat down beside her. She looked at
him and smiled. "Thanks for meeting me here," she said.

"You
said it was about Josh," Lance said quietly. Nobody in *NSYNC liked
Bree, least of all Lance. He hated her with a passion and she knew it,
and he didn't know why she had called him wanting help. "I think he
wants to end it with me," she said. "It's breaking my
heart. I love him, and I don't want to lose him."

"Why
do you think he wants to end it?" Lance asked, slightly perking up
at the thought.

Bree
was so lost in herself that she didn't notice the change. "All we do
is fight anymore. About stupid things he brings up. I don't know,
it's likehe's looking for a way out."

"I
see," Lance said. He knew the real story though, Josh had called him
several times after Bree left his home. He knew that the littlest thing
set Bree off on Josh and Lance had seen the bruises himself.

"I
don't think he realizes that he's hurting me, when all I want is to love
him," she said tearfully.

"Now,
now, Bree," Lance said faking concern. "I think that you and
Josh just need to sit and talk calmly about what's going on in your
heads."

"I
think maybe I should just break it off first," she said suddenly.
She looked at Lance. "What doyou think?"

"Whatever
makes you happy, Bree."

"It
would make me happy not to fight anymore," she whispered. Lance
could tell she meant it, he didn't know why though. Josh had told him
that she always started the fights, that she seemed to thrive on them.

"Then
stop," Lance whispered back. "Leave him and go. Maybe
it's the best for you both." He was looking directly in her eyes as
he said it and he hoped she got the message.

"Maybe."
She stood up and walked off, not giving him a second glance.

Lance's
phone rang, waking him from a restless nap on his couch. He grabbed the
cordless phone from the floor near his head and answered.
"Mmm?"

"Lance,
it's Josh, I didn't mean to wake you."

"It's
ok Josh. What's up? Did she-"

He
was going to ask if Bree had roughed him up again but Josh interrupted
him. "Just go open your door," Josh said cryptically. The
line went dead. Lance sat up and looked at the phone, then at his front
door. It didn't take a genius to know that Josh would be at the other
side. But Lance didn't know in what shape he would be in. Lance
went to the front door and opened it, not surprised to see Josh standing there,
but surprised to see a grin on his face.

"Hi,"
Lance smiled. "What's up?"

"Bree
broke up with me. Can you believe that?" Josh asked, still
grinning. Lance took a step back and waited for Josh to come
inside. "She said that it was the best for both of us."
Josh moved past Lance and shut the door. "I think she's right.
It is the best for the two of us." As Josh kissed Lance on the
mouth, Lance couldn't help but agree that she was right.

The
End

Breakable Fisher
Do you always have to tell him everything
On your mind?
You know that too much honesty can be
So unkind

And every time you
throw him to the floor
Why are you surprised to see he's breakable?

You always try to find
what's holding him
Away from you
But do you ever see your anger standing there
Right between you?
And every time you throw him to the wall
Why are you surprised to see he's breakable?

Tell the world that
he's breaking your heart
Go tell the world nothing's ever your fault
Go tell them all

And every time you
throw him to the floor
Why are you surprised to see he's breakable?
And every time you throw him to the wall
Why are you surprised to see he's breakable?
