nothing=FA='s guide to sniping
v.1.02
Welcome soldier, I'm nothing of course. This is a basic run-through of the two rifles in Delta Force 2, and then some tips that may help you with your time popping heads. Remember one shot, one kill.
nothing=FA=
Barrett light .50
Pros: range, bullet speed, less drop at long ranges
Cons: recoil, running speed reducement, muzzle flash, kevlar shrugs it off
Basically a long range rifle w/ minimal setbacks. Not exactly for the average beginner.
M40A1
Pros: huge bullet caliber, lightweight, easier running accuracy
Cons: range is somewhat limited, exceeding the standard range gives a hell of a change in drop
A great gun for the beginners as you would not have to worry about a head shot most of the time, spectacular gun, but trying a 1000m shot will take a couple of tries
Now I will give a few suggestions on how to shoot, and when to shoot.
Tip#1: running targets. Never shoot. Plain and simple. UNLESS, the are running in a straight line at you, or your the host, or on a very good server. But the chances of missing are pretty good. It wastes bullets and will sometimes expose you to the opposition.
Tip#2: scope drop. Very vast area. Most newbies set their scope every shot, which is ok, but I think it is quicker to leave your scope on a single setting for some shots. Say you have a target at 200m, and your scope is on 300m, instead of resetting your scope to 200m, just aim a bit low. And if you have a target at 589m, just scope up to 600m, and aim a bit low.
Tip#3: anti-sniping on the run. Ok, this is a toughie sometimes. Ok, say your running along to your favorite perch, and you hear a ping near you, and you see the sniper, first thing to do is select your scope while running, set your crosshairs near or on them, stop, QUICKLY check the distance, run, stop, set the distance quickly! Run, set crosshairs VERY close to the sniper, stop, aim, pop, repeat if you didn't get them the first time. This will help after you learn how to do it well.
Tip#4: stupid snipers. I love these guys when they are not on my team. The one thing that I get most of my stabs on, are these foolish children, running to a perch, and not looking back. That's why I love'em. But if you are following a prospective pincushion, stay back a little ways, because if they still have their gun out, they will be running slower than you. And make sure that if they see you, that it is the last thing that will see besides red.
Tip#5: perches. Whoooo! These are the icing on our cyanide-laced cake! These are hard to find sometimes, but w/ patience and scouting, these will produce mass amounts of points.
Tip#6: head shots. These should be every shot you make, unless you have to rush them. For beginners I recommend that you go to the settings screen on the main menu, and set your scope sensitivity to half way, experts, all the way up. This is a bit hard to get used to, but it doesn't take a lot to master it. And it's better than having to drag endlessly on the mouse to move 90 degrees to the right.
Tip#7: teaming up while sniping. This is a NO-NO! This will double your chance to be seen and it will probably give the enemy 2 easy kills OR STABS! Now don't get me wrong, back up is good, but not when they're 5m to your right. I suggest a good 50-60 meter spread, maybe more.
Tip#8: hiding. This will keep you alive and well if you do it right. Ok, once again, don't get me wrong, binocs are great, but you should work on developing your sniper eye. It's ok if u really need to (like if u have glare on your screen all the time like me.). find yourself a nice plot of deep grass and lay down, move forward till u can see wherever. You can also use F6 to see how much of you is exposed.
Tip#9: perches (again). OK gang, I've been accused of going to the same perch every time, which sometimes I do, but only if the spot is working VERY well, or some dumb ass just told me the range of his shot and I watched which way I fell. You should explore the level whenever you have some free time and find some spots. It is better to have 40 different good ones instead of 2 good ones. And do not make any specific order when choosing which perch you go to in the event of you making a mistake.
Tip#10: ears. Use these! They can find out where a shot came from, and they can save you from becoming the thanksgiving turkey. You can hear shots loudly to the right and left, straight ahead is kinda muffled for some reason, and behind you is in-between. After you learn what to listen for, you hopefully stay alive a bit longer.
Tip#11: bigotry. Basically bragging. Sometimes this is ok, but when somebody like me is playing the game, and you give out the range of a shot, your ass is mine. Don't go too far on this.
Tip#12: drop rate. Ok, this will close off this version of my guide. This is how much drop will affect your shot. 100m-499m not much at all. 500m-800m quite a bit more. 801m-999m make sure u have a good clear shot, this is a pain sometimes. 1000m-1800m(yes u can stretch it, don't try though) better hope u get it right on the button.
This concludes the self-written part, now for your turn.
