I put on an apron, and I start adding in the ingredients mindlessly. A few eggs...a couple handfuls of sugar...vanilla... rose petals...Woah, hold on a second, rose petals? What in the world am I making?
Then, realization hits me...it was HIS favorite desert.
I blink back tears as I remember him and his perfect eyes...
We were out to catch the Princess, she had left for the Earth again. That girl! By now it was quite obvious that she was most certainly not going to stop visiting the Earth, and we had her safety to consider, so Venus went off to talk to the head general about security measures, I on the other hand was furious! The princess picked my training time to sneak off, and how often does a princess get to fight and spar without that awful comment, "That's un-lady-like"? Needless to day, I wasn't happy, in fact I was screaming at the princess, and the others were not able to calm me down.
We must have made quite an image, a short-skirted guardian yelling at the person she was sworn to protect.
Finally, one of the generals stepped forward. He offered to spar with me since my training was interrupted. I, of course, accepted.
He didn't beat me of course. My fighting skill are good, and when I'm upset, I'm damn near invincible.
He was handsome though. And when I finally calmed down, he managed to pin me.
Nothing, and I do mean NOTHING, could have prepared me for what happened next. He commented that I had beautiful eyes and then he kissed me!
Oh, I fell for him right then and there.
And, as always, there was a problem.
I was already engaged!
He was my best friend, but I definitely didn't love him.
I can still see the look on Nephrite's face when he confessed his love for me, I responded in kind, then I told him that I was promised to another.
My poor Nephrite!
We distanced ourselves from each other. I left for the moon again.
With Venus gone, Mars was the leader, I was counting the days when Venus was going to come back. Don't get me wrong, Mars is a very good friend of mine...the power's just gotten to her head.
With my wedding approaching, I was glad to know that Venus was coming back to go to it, and hopefully, to stay.
Then, on the night before my wedding, THEY attacked. I saw my fiance fall at the hands of my love. He was my best friend! When I cried out for him, Nephrite took it the wrong way, he mistook my friendship for love.
I tried to convince him that he was the only one I loved, but he was beyond reasoning.
Everything went wrong from there.
The oven timer rings, snapping me out of my dreams. I take the dish out of the oven. It smells wonderful...intoxicating even, but I'd rather be intoxicated by his cologne.
I remember the others telling me that Nephrite died just before I came here. I'm so glad. I really don't think I would have been able to fight him...I'm just not that strong.
Funny huh?
If you were to ask any of the scouts who they thought was the strongest, they all would have said me without a second thought. But I'm not strong! Strong would be having the nerve to call off my engagement instead of hiding behind it, I wish I could have another chance though, to tell him how I feel. I suddenly feel a soft breeze through my kitchen.
What in the..? I didn't leave any windows open...
Then I smell it, his cologne! Is he...?
Could it be...?
"That wouldn't be for me, would it?"
I spin around and I see him, Nephrite!
Wasting no time, I rush into his arms and kiss him.
Once we finally break for air, I ask him, "How, how is this possible? They told me you were killed!"
"Did you think you were the only ones who were reborn, my dear princess?"
They were reborn too? I was at a loss for words, and he chuckles.
"Surprised to see me love?"
I nod dumbly. Then I realize that I got my wish, I can explain what happened!
"Nephrite, about what happened on the moon..."
"Let's not talk about the past. Not when we can have a wonderful future, that is unless you're engaged to someone again." He teases.
"Nope. I'm totally single."
"Good. Not let's eat! You know how much I love your cooking."
I smile and we sit down. The future is looking so wonderfully bright now.
Wow, a happy ending! Don't worry there's going to be an epilogue too, just don't ask me when it'll be out.
