Hi minna! this story's form Raye's point of view and it's kinda sad, so don't say I didn't warn you! The second I heard this song, I wanted to use it in a fic. Serena came to my mind at first but after some thinking, I decided that Raye was more apropriate

I hear the announcer call my name. This is it, by singing debut. I step on the stage and I listen to the piano play the melody I chose.
"'Never look back' we said,
How was I to know I'd miss you so?"
I stare into the crowd, all my friends came to cheer me on. My eyes focus on two in particular. Darien and Serena.
"Loneliness up ahead, emptiness behind,
"Where do I go?"
He and I used to date once. I've never seen him as happy as he is with her, at least not while he was with me. I miss him.
"And you didn't hear
"All my joy through my tears
"All my hopes through me fears
"Do you now, still I miss you some how."
It took some work, but I finally got a date with him. And what a date! We went to the ice cream shop, and then we had a romantic boat ride on the lake.
We even got to tease Serena! All in all a good day. I just wish we could have had more.

"There's just a thing or two I'd like you to know.

"From the first kisses to the very last rose.

We had a couple of good dates, then he started to grow distant. I should have noticed that something was wrong. I should have...
'Baby' I said 'please stay

"We could have worked things out

Even then he was withdrawn, he always had a barrier around him. And try as I might, I never was able to get him to open up to me, Serena did.

As I sing the chorus again I look out into the crowd. Darien's kissing Serena?s hand. I can feel a stab in my heart. We were so close before we all got out memories back, before he realized that he loved someone else. My eyes lock onto Darien's.

"But to somebody else
And I'm back where I started again
"Never thought it would end"
He nods. He understands why I chose this song. It's my way of telling him that I never stopped caring about him, but was I in love with him?

Chad. I can see him off in the corner, trying to hide from me. I can barley make out the roses he has in his hands. He's so sweet. I never really gave him a chance with me, I was too busy obsessing with Darien.

I wish I knew what it was about Darien that made me so reluctant to give him up. It wasn't love... so what was it?

The song ends and I take a bow at the roaring applause. Serena's even standing on her chair, cheering me on. I can't help but smile. That Meatball Head. Then realization hits me. I know why I was so jealous of Serena. It wasn't because she got Darien, it was because she found her love and I didn't. I feel so much better with that fact.
And now it's time to move on.
Chad comes up to me and hands me a dozen red roses. I take them from him and give him a kiss on the cheek. He seems surprised but pleased. I take his arm and we go to join my friends.
