(The scene opens in the Buffalo, New York
General Hospital. Inside, there are nurses rushing around and there
are a few family members waiting in the waiting room, some with
tissues in their hands and other are asleep. The scene moves into a
patient’s room and all that is in the room is a bed with a blonde
woman lying in it facing away from the camera, two chairs and a
bathroom off to the left. On the windowsill there are a few flowers,
cards and balloons. Suddenly there is a light moan coming from the bed
and the blonde woman turns around slowly, clutching her ribs. She is
then recognized as Harmony Taylor. Just then, there is a knock on the
door and her eyes open up.)
Harm: Come in.
(The curtain opens and in steps a young, handsome
doctor. He is in blue scrubs and is holding her chart in his hands.)
Doc: Hello Harmony, how are you feeling today?
Harm: Besides the pain, bruises and overall
feeling like crap, I’m doing pretty good…
Doc: Well…I do have some news for you. You do have
2 broken ribs and numerous ones are bruised. The only thing you can do
for them is rest. So that means you will have to take a month off of
your job.
Harm: Are you serious? I can’t. I need to be in
the ring.
Doc: It’s for your own good. If someone hits you
right, one of those broken ribs that aren’t healed can puncture a lung
and then you’ll be in worse shape than you are in now.
Harm: You don’t understand…we put our lives on
the line every week we go out there…you think broken ribs are going to
stop me?
Doc: They should. You wrestlers never fear anything
like this but listen to me Harmony, you are in worse shape than you
think you are. Bandaging up your ribs isn’t going to protect you from
everything.
Harm: But it does protect me somewhat right?
Doc: Not from everything…
Harm: Ok, ok…
Doc: Alright, well we’ll get you your discharge
papers and a nurse will come in here and get your ready and bandage up
your ribs. You need to do this every day, even when you’re just lying
around.
(The doctor pats Harmony on the leg.)
Doc: Get some rest and I better not see you on
Chaos.
(Harmony smiles.)
Harm: Ok Doctor. Thanks.
(The doctor shakes Harmony’s hand and then walks
out of her room. Harmony looks out of the window and smiles again.)
Harm: A few broken ribs can’t keep me out of the
ring…
(Just then there is another knock on the door. A
woman in her late 30’s walks in with a cart of bandages and Harmony’s
chart.)
Nurse: Well, Ms. Taylor, it looks like the doctor
is giving you the go ahead to get out of here. I just need to go over
a few things and then I’ll wrap up those ribs of yours and you are
free to go. First of all, do you have someone coming here to take you
home?
Harm: Home? I’m living in a hotel… and yeah,
someone is picking me up. Hopefully she’ll be in time…
Nurse: Well…you are welcome to stay here as long
as you need to. So do you have any questions about leaving?
Harm: No, I’ve seen plenty of people in the
business with the same injury so I know what to do and what not to do.
Nurse: Ok. And you know the doctor has you off of
work right?
Harm: Yeah…but when can I start therapy again?
Nurse: Ummm…I think the doctor doesn’t want you
to start heavy lifting or anything for 2 weeks.
Harm: Ok. Sounds good to me.
Nurse: Alright well…I’ll let you get your pants
on then I’ll wrap your ribs.
(The nurse walks over to the dresser and grabs
Harmony’s clothes and sets them on the bed. She then walks behind the
curtain to give Harmony some privacy. Harmony steps out of bed and
winks at the camera. She turns the camera so it’s facing the window. A
few moments later, the camera is turned back towards Harmony and she
has blue jeans on and a black silky bra. She sits back on the bed.)
Harm: Alright, I’m ready.
(The nurse walks back into the room and wheels the
cart closer. She takes an Ace bandage and starts to wrap it around
Harmony’s ribs. Harmony watches her and smiles.)
Harm: Hey, while you’re wrapping that up…can you
lift these up?
(The nurse smiles.)
Nurse: Give it 10 years hunny…
(Harmony and the nurse laugh as the nurse finishes
wrapping Harmony up. Harmony slips a black hooded sweatshirt with
“Diva” scrawled across the chest in pearlescnet white lettering.)
Nurse: Now, when you take that off, you’ll be
stiff but you can put on ice and it will make it feel better. Do you
need help getting your things together?
Harm: No, I should be fine.
Nurse: Ok, good luck on Saturday.
Harm: Thanks…I’ll need it…I mean…
Nurse: You athletes are all the same…just be
careful Harmony. ICW can’t lose its only woman competitor.
Harm: I know. That’s why I can’t take time off.
Those boys can’t think that I’ll be out for a month because of a
little pain. It will make me appear even weaker than they think I
already am.
Nurse: They’ll come around…they always do. Show
those boys what you’re made of. The only thing you need to watch out
for is a direct blow. That one you took on Saturday was bad but it
could have been worse.
Harm: Don’t worry…I’ll be watching out. And now
that I have Amadeus watching my back, I’ll feel a little safer.
(The nurse reaches towards Harmony and shakes her
hand.)
Nurse: Good luck. We’ll all be watching, and even
though the doctor doesn’t want you out there, he’ll still be rooting
for you.
Harm: Thanks.
(The nurse leaves the room and Harmony begins to
pack her stuff up as the scene fades to black.)
