| What exactly is slave burnout? To this one it is a place where sooner or later all slaves will find themselves. It is when the fire that burns deep within each slave becomes barely a flicker, when her desire to serve and please is almost null and void. It can happen for many reasons: a slave's Master isn't around enough; the slave is released from the Master she loved more than her own life; the pressure of being a tavern slave becomes too much; ect... No matter the reason the result is the same, often times the slave will become withdrawn, disrespectful; her serves will lack the fire and heart they once had. It is a sad thing when a slave finds herself suffering from slave burnout; some slaves never recover and slowly pull away from Gor, while for others it may only last a few days. Can slave burnout be avoided? Possibly, if at the first sign of it the slave takes a few days away from Gor to relax and regroup. Is it curable? Most definitely. If you are a slave and feel as fall has described above don't leave Gor, don't stay on Gor until you are so burnt out that you say things and act in ways you never would any other time. Rather, take a time-out away from Gor. Allow yourself the time you need to heal what ever ails you. Maybe it will only take a day, maybe a month. However long it takes you owe it yourself and those you would serve to be at your best, to serve from the heart not just from memory with no feeling behind the words. There is nothing wrong with saying "this one needs a break for awhile", odds are most Masters/Mistress will understand and permit you the time you need. So don't be afraid to speak up and ask for time away, we all need a break every now and then. |
