Sergeant | Sarah Anne Edwards | Overview: |
![]() |
Harry Edwards was a foreman on an asteroid mining facility that produced nickel. He has since retired after taking a very generous severance package just prior to the company closing its operations at that location. Mr. Edwards retired in time to see his daughter Sarah graduate from Naval Academy.
Prior to that, Sarah spent time on the asteroid learning in the local school her mother, Terry Edwards, was running. The nearby planet allowed the Edwards to enroll Sarah in one of their High Schools, but she had to stay planet-side through the school year with a family that was willing to take her in. In spite of the distance that existed between Sarah and her family, she was able to remain focused on her school work, since after all, her mother was getting her results and she was rather strict with her before she started High School. The fear she must have felt would have been a motivating factor. Even so, the High School was very honoured to have her, as she was one of their brightest. Though Sarah was courted by several Universities, she chose to enlist in the military. One can surmise that the pressure of having to perform well when it came to her education must have been the deciding factor. Though charges were never filed, one report of child abuse was noted on the asteroid. The incident claimed Terry Edwards used excessive |
| force to discipline her child, but nothing ever came of this. Whether anything changed afterwards is not clear as the matter was never officially investigated. Sarah's move to the military put her out of reach of her parents, her mother in particular, further, without having to focus on the books so much, it took the pressure off of her. All of those things leads one to believe that an investigation should have been preformed.
During her senior year at high school, she took a serious interest in racing cars, and she could have made a career out of it. Instead, she chose the military, and she preformed so well, Sarah was shipped to Naval Academy, spreading the distance between herself and her family by several jumps. Her time on the asteroid did have a profound affect on Sarah, as she focused on becoming a pilot. Initially, she trained as a dropship pilot, and then took a jumpship as part of her special training, but Sarah did not stop there, as she applied for and was granted permission to train as a warship pilot. Sarah was handed her first assignment before graduating, her marks were too good to pass up. She was assigned to the Deep Blue Sea fresh out of the academy. Her parents made the trip to see Sarah graduate, and observers noted a slight chill between mother and daughter when they met face to face. |
