One of the few Ferro Fibrous Armour manutacturing facilities in the Federated Suns is the sole property of the Winters family. Prior to the rediscovery of Star League technology, their company produced Riese-470 armour that was used on the VLK-QA Valkyrie, but with the capability to produce Ferro Fibrous Armour, the company switched to producing what they called, StarGuard CIV Ferro-Fibrous, and they continued to supply armour for the Valkyrie. The company wanted to expand its production and earn more military contracts. They had several smaller contracts, but the Winters knew where the real money was to be made. They put in several offers, knowing that they would only be realistically selected for one or two. To their delight, they were able to make use of their older facilities, producing armour plating for the STH-1D Stealth, calling their return to standard armour Durallex Medium. The real coup for the Winters was landing the contract for the Rakshasa, producing the StarGuard Ferro-Fibrous armour for the Mad Cat mockup. This is where the Winters got their vast wealth, and perhaps, this is where Rebecca got hooked on joining the military. Her parents were not thrilled with the idea, and hoped that a few years at St. Jacobs School for Girls would change her mind. Though she did very well at Preparatory School, her love of the military did not stop her from going. However, she might have been lured by the apparent glamour of being in the service of the Federated Suns, but Miss Winters found her niche. She attended NAIS College of Military Science, where she studied communications. Not many people choose to study HPGs, both the usage of and repairing of these facilities. This tends to be more of a civilian thing, but the Federated Suns obliged her. |
| With her focus on communications and being trained as a Military Scientist, the MIIO recruited her. She was supposed to go out into the field, but the mission she was training for was scrubbed. This happened twice with Rebecca Winters. When the secret project that produced the Zeus Class Destroyer ran into trouble with their communications, the MIIO loaned her to the project. She has been with project ever since.
Though Leftenant Winters was recruited by MIIO, she is not an intelligence officer, nor is she an operative of the MIIO, a fact that was made clear from the beginning. She was only to be used in a very specific role, and never placed in harms way. However, since the MIIO has no further use for Leftenant Winters, she has been permanently assigned to the Deep Blue Sea. What is not common knowledge is that soon after Rebecca was originally assigned to work on the Zeus class Destroyer's communications trouble, Hauptmann General Therman Grane took an interest in the young lady. They managed to keep their relationship quiet, however, the details of their relationship were discovered, but the two did what they could to cover it up. For a period of several months, Rebecca was at a Naval Academy consulting with some experts in communications, and she took a break. During that time, she met Sarah Edwards and they developed a strong friendship. When Rebecca returned to New Avalon Ship Yards, Echo Station, she and Therman did not start up again, not right away at least. Though the true details of their relationship is still unconfirmed, it is suspected that some sort of fetish may have been observed. This is due to the Hauptmann General's extraordinary interest, and purchases from a company called "JT's Stockroom." |
