Background:

"Miss-spent youth," only begins to describe this man! Chris was most definitely a wild one while growing up. Chris and his friends did a lot of things to pass the time away. One of their favourites was to pester the tourists that came to the planet, especially to a nearby resort where they would blast air horns at golfers on their swing, planting stink bombs in the resorts hot tubs and other nasty deeds the group of youths thought were funny.

Chris comes with a certain Stigma attached to him, that being his association with Bandits. This is not really his fault, as they took him in and raised him. Bandit life was much like his own...wild! It set him on a course of destruction, almost developing a drinking problem, but that was cured after a twist of Periphery fate.

Chris and buddies went too far and some of them were caught red handed. Each of them was given the same option. Either spend some time in prison, or join the army. They all opted for the military and as per their instructions, they all enlisted.

The boys had planned to simply do their time and get out as soon as they could, but Chris found the military training rather enjoyable. It gave him focus and direction, both of which were hoped for by giving all the boys the option of army instead of prison.

His friends parted ways with him when they learned that he intended to make the most of the situation, and he did make the best of it. Someone noticed just how good this kid was in the 'Mech simulators and without warning or option, Chris was off to Tikonov School of Military Discipline. Chris was angry that the choice was not his to make, but that anger quickly faded shortly after arriving, as the training he received was exactly where he wanted to go.

With they way he excelled, Chris was automatically put through Special Forces training, and right afterwards, he found himself on a covert operations assignment going by the name of Jay Hamilton. For five years he helped crack a major smuggling ring that stopped valuable weapon parts head into Capellan Confederation space. A few people would like to get their hands on Jay Hamilton for that.

Chris Vaughnn went back to the Outworlds Alliance to serve as a Mechwarrior. During this time, he saw a bit of action, enough to keep the warrior inside him interested. But a call from the Federated Commonwealth saw him shipped out to the St. Ives Compact for duty there. After what had happened, Chris was a little nervous about getting that close to the Capellan Confederation again. However, he served under the Davion flag, and he served them well.

The Federated Commonwealth was going to send him back home, but instead of answering the request to return to the Outworlds Alliance, he sent them his resignation, and he headed off to Outreach in search of another adventure. He knows that at any time either the Alliance or Commonwealth will call upon him to serve again, but Chris needed a change, and he thought mercenary life might be the change he needed.

During his interview with Tom Kurtis, Chris was honest and forth coming on his sorted past. Tom found the story hard to believe, but everything checks out. Tom likes the guy's honesty, and thought he might make a good addition to the unit, so long as he could find a BattleMech with a lot of energy weapons, as Chris was proficient with them, but much less so with the other types of 'Mech weapon systems.
