....The triax Jager surges back from the impact of four gargoyle mini-missiles, but the pilot manages to keep his armor on its feet and fights back with his own volley of mini-missiles which impact along the robot's sensor array almost completely destroying the head. Just as the missiles impact upon the gargoyles armor, he releases another savage assault with his main body ion cannon, however, the jager lunges out of the canon's path. Heinrich engages his last volley of missiles at the still exposed missile launcher of his opponents torso. The missiles impact upon the exposed launch detonating the unfired missiles and destroying the gargoyle crew on board. After seeing their commander die at the hands of the NGR pilot, the remaining gargoyles and gurgoyles rush the remaining army vehicles in a vain attempt to destroy the remaining troops before they can retreat back to the safety of their walled base. The NGR soldiers fight a delaying tactic as they fight their way back to the base where the are supported by the base bunkers and other anti gargoyle vehicles. All tolled, the cost of the battle were high for the gargoyles. Losing 150 combine troops from the ranks of gargoyles, gurgoyles, and gargoylites. The NGR division suffered light casualties, losing only 3 men; however, the toll of the battle was not one of joy for Captain Heinrich, for he received news that no man should ever have to bear........
