YOUNGSTERS 2003
This year and frankly last year have propably the worst since I have breeding fantails, not making excuses but only facts, I made the decision of building my own house,..."Talk aboit time consuming." But that is no exscuse for the hobby, but next year should be all guns a blazing, I must admit though....for only banding 35 this year, the youngsters are quite impressive and cull ratio is extremely low, out of 35 only 8 have been culled.....it makes me crazy just to think what I may of had if I could of put a little effort into them and banded my usual 100, next year I hope to have the normal devotion to my fantails next year, since life is now starting to get back to normal......It better!! |

A very interesting lavender hen at a fairly young age, what is interesting to me is the body height ratio compared to that of both body width and depth, so far in my experience and probably that to many others is the width ratio, she is no where near 5 1/2 inches wide but she is getting close, I still feel that if we every do acheive this body structure man they better have some preety strong legs under them, "Comparison" Just think of it.... I'm 5' 11'', make that both my width and my depth......BED BOUND!! |

Hoping that this is a young cock bird.....most people who know my loft generally know that 95% of the strength in my loft is through the hens, when strenght comes in the means of a cock bird I do get a little excited, note the tail setting and size.....a the most significant trait for a cock in my loft is the refinement...in this photo this young birds tail has 10 blood feathers in it. |

The quality of refinement has been easily maintained in my loft.......thank god!!! The main goal is trying to acheive roundness when viewed from the front yet maintaining the refinement throughout.....to the point of the wing flights....many people think that covered wing buts is considered refined.....to the primaries and no breaks in wing line is my goal....to another extent....primaries as paralell to floor surface as possible....but thats another story! |
