Skrai
Many turnings ago, when Char was new and the OM first brought forth its Primordials to watch over the world the great Cerulean Sun broke off a piece of herself so she might experience life as a mortal women, In this form she was known as Skrai. A beautiful women with dark hair and pale blue radiant skin that seemed to be alight of its own accord. Skrai wandered amongst the mortals of Char for three years. In the third year of her wandering Skrai happened to come to the river Shuran – there she bathed and sung to herself. Unknown to the star-girl, eyes watched her fascinated by the unusual mortal female. Urkoth [Primal-Rage] had come to the land seeking adventure something to bring him joy. For so long had he been the OM’s sentinel going from the Halls of Char’Kal to stand at The Source with Zarhur-Rao’s questions, for only Urkoth could stand before the OM without being annihilated by its awesome power. Nor could the OM directly act in mortal affairs. Urkoth, The Hooded One, keeper of The Bow of Instinct, archer of the Ratava had grown bored with his duties and so he wandered Char. Skrai sung to herself dipped under the water, springing up she let an arc of water shoot into the air. Arching her back she gave The Hooded one a perfect sight of her voluptuous full form. Under his concealing voluminous hood Urkoth smiled. He felt the emblem of the OM vibrate with his own joy at the sight of the blue girl. Bellowing, the sound of his voice shook all of Char with his tremendous might. It caused Skrai to turn and look around her. Choosing to make himself known Urkoth walked to the edge of the river so he could look down at the girl. His vast cloak billowed all around him. Skrai stared up at The Hooded One, her mouth agape with wonder she had never seen such as he. Concealed all in a black cloak, at his hip a quiver of arrows could be found their silver fletching all a glimmer. Slung over his back was a bow made of an usual substance, some kind of metal – Atlaar had fashioned the weapon for his friend before he had left the seat of the Ratava. What was most strange about Urkoth was his face. Depths of darkness were alive beneath Urkoth’s all concealing black hood. All one might see when looking on him was eerie glowing green eyes without pupils (a common trait among Ratava) and in the place where his third eye might be the glowing emblem of the OM – that sacred syllable shined with might. “Beautiful creature you cannot be of this world!” exclaimed Urkoth his voice vibrating the very foundations of Char as he spoke. Finding herself Skrai replied. “And I’ve never seen one such as you.” Urkoth smiled. “Never? You look to be of Zarhur’s blood my lovely, surely you come from the Halls of the Burning Mountain?” “I do not My Lord, in truth I do not much remember where I am from.” Truly Skrai had long forgotten that she was a part of the Cerulean Sun that lit the skies of Char. With one gauntleted hand Urkoth lifted Skrai from her bath and set her onto the shore. “I am Urkoth” he declared. “Skrai is what I am called My Lord.” The two spent many hours talking on the shore; hours turned to weeks – soon weeks would turn to years. Time passed and soon Skrai quickened with life in her womb. It had been an unusual union to be sure and what was to come from it would be a first for both Ratava and mortal alike. Two eggs came forth from Skrai in these golden eggs, Hope for the Ratava grew. Soon they hatched giving to us the daughters Falcania and Shayera the first of the Rais. Being of strange heritage the girls matured swiftly becoming young women themselves in a blink of an eye – their parents always watching and teaching them each girl excelled in her chosen arts. Shayera became a fantastic warrior and her twin Falcania a wizard at working metal. Both were smart and beautiful. Soon they would go off to shape Char. Once the twins left the nest Skrai ascended once more to become one again with the Cerulean Sun. It is said that she watches over her daughters and that they give her thanks each dawn. Urkoth journeys to the Stars so that he might spend time with his T’Krin – there they become One being. |
