1. I walked by the river blue. Grabbed a stone and sent it flying across the waves to sink like dying The tides will make the jagged edges smooth. Your eyes are blue. 2. I looked to the heavens blue. Beautiful. Cold and distant. I reached for stars but in an instant Felt so far away from what was true. Your eyes are blue. + Fall from the sky. let me break through the ice. To swim in the sea of you. *Blue. 3. I heard Ella singing blue With pain so deep, cut like a razor... Tore me apart, wished I could save her. Her voice raw with emotion, just like you. Your eyes are blue. + Fall from the sky. Let me break through the ice. To swim in the sea of you. *Blue. # I danced by the gates of Graceland in my blue suede shoes. Moved my feet, but I lost the rhythm... like I'm losing you. 4. I walked by the ocean blue. It was deep and wide...troubled, restless. Reminded me that I was helpless. Daring me to cross. What could I do? Your eyes are blue. And there's an ocean between us now. Blue. Blue. Blue. Words: Steven Stewart Music: Steven Stewart & Miikka Stlhane 1998
This song was born from a bad poem I wrote after missing Finland when I was in America. I liked the concept, so I rethought the lyrics. Here is the original poem:
The sky is blue. Cold as ice. Far away. Your eyes are blue. The sea is blue. Deep and wide. Troubled, restless. Your eyes are blue. And there is an ocean between us.
