This song was born from a bad poem I wrote after missing Finland when I was in America. I liked the concept, so I rethought the lyrics. Here is the original poem:

The sky is blue.
Cold as ice.  Far away.
Your eyes are blue.

The sea is blue.
Deep and wide.  Troubled, restless.
Your eyes are blue.

And there is an ocean between us.
