Bible Study Notes and Thoughts

Here are some of my thoughts and notes on Bible studies, Sunday School, and Wednesday night services

Yesterday was National Day of Prayer. I didn't do much for it, except go to a breakfast in the morning. Some of my friends took the day off to go to the park. Then I think they ended up going to the beach at some point. Lucky! Well, we haven't talked a whole lot lately about God and the Bible, Doris hasn't been around because she was on vacation, and I guess that's all. We will get on track soon enough. Doris did have some good things to talk about this past Wednesday night, she had two topics to discuss, about how our walk with God is similar to an infant. Infants only need milk the first year of life, then after that, they need to have new foods in their life in order to survive. In order to grow with God, we need to step past the milk and onto bigger things. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say, sorry it's so vagure. I wish I had more to say, but I have to go do some stuff, talk to you later. God Bless!

Well, I was home sick today, so now I have some time to write. Last Friday, our church performed its Easter musical, and I danced in it. It was amazing, and I'm glad everything worked out. I pray that those who went that were not believers came to the Lord. The structure of Sunday nights and such will be changing, so if you haven't been in a while, that's a little update for you! I can't wait to see what we have planned for the upcoming months! I should be receiving a schedule in the mail very soon! We haven't been talking about a whole lot recently, just about how we would like things to change, and that we don't enjoy going to church anymore. We feel that the sermons are too long, and that we cannot get anything out of service. We've been told that things will change, and I am hoping that they will! Hopefully, I'll keep this site updated more often!

Wow, I haven't written in a long time. Sorry about that. Now I think it's time to clean up some things on this page, don't you think? Maybe not, it's all important stuff. Maybe I'll just change the order.

I was unable to go to church this morning, 'cause I thought that I would be going for a driving lesson. And of course, I didn't. I will be going to Bible study tonight though. Well, there have been a lot of things on my mind. A lot that I haven't just come out and said. It's about the friends I miss, the sisters of my life, the ever-caring people that I don't see any more. I feel distant from them, and I feel that we don't seem as close anymore. Everything happens for a reason, and the Lord will make things work out. We are still continuing some discussions on faith, and we are talking about the 30 Hour Famine. If you or your group is interested in this, please vist the 30 Hour Famine link at the bottom. On Wednesday, we talked about passion, and having passion for the Lord. I wish I had more of that passion. I know Him and His word, but I wish I was able to be a stronger believer. I guess you could say that I am doubting. Another thing happened recently, where I feel that I can no longer trust the friend that I've known for a long time. I feel that he betrayed our friendship by taking advantage of the situation. I feel that this is the second time that this has happened. Please keep praying about this, the Lord will lead the way. Well, I must get going. God Bless, and I will talk to you later.

The 30 Hour Famine is an international event that raises money for World Vision, which feeds hungry and starving people in the world. This famine gives teenagers a small glimpse of what it is like to go hungry for 30 hours, but they know that at the end of the 30 hours, there will be a meal, while hungry children and people don't know when their next meal will be. If you would like to know more about this, please visit their website.

Happy New Year's...a little late. Oh well!! Has anyone made any resolutions?? I really haven't yet. At one Bible study, we talked about making resolutions, but not much has gone on since then. This past Sunday, we had some really good discussions about some questions we had. A bunch of us were wondering about Hell, the Devil, and God, why we are sent to Hell if He always forgives us, and questions pertaining to that topic. We were told that it is good to question our faith, which is what I have been doing a lot lately. There are a lot of questions that I have that I would love answers to. Also, that morning in Sunday school, Steve talked about doubting our faith, which was what got us going in the afternoon. Thanks to Lee for our wonderful conversations...I love ya! Well, that's all I got to say now, talk to you all soon!!! God Bless!

Well, I haven't been to any Bible studies or anything with Nutcracker, so I'm sorry that I haven't updated this page. I pray that all of you will have a wonderful Christmas. I also can't wait to get back into the whole scene, 'cause I miss my friends outside of ballet, so it will be cool to see them, and to have some Christian fellowship with them, and the whole thing. Talk to you guys soon!

Tonight, we talked about trying to put God's plan before our own plans. She used baby food and real vegetables as an example. Trying the nasty baby food, you would rather have the real veggies. That's how we work, with God. We always have the 'fake' stuff (here, baby food), but God wants to offer us the real thing (the veggies). We watched a Veggie Tales movie, and made the characters out of the veggies. I made Larry Boy and Bob the Tomato (it was a lot of fun). Then we put our little veggies in the preschool for them to see when they came in the next day (Thursday). I know that they really enjoyed them! This past Sunday, we watched a movie called Left Behind. When it comes out in theatres in February, I suggest everyone go and see it, it's a good movie. It's about the rapture, where the believers disappear into thin air without a trace, and the world is in a panic, and the events that follows. Bible verses are quoted, and some who are left behind become believers in Christ. Even if you are not a Christian, it's a good, suspenseful movie to go and see.

Sunday, November 12, 2000----Hey guys, sorry I haven't been around in a while. Tonight at Bible study, we watched a very good movie called Left Behind. It's about the end, where the Christians are taken up into Heaven. It's coming into theatres Feb. 2, 2001. I suggest everyone go and see it. During Sunday School, we have side tracked and have focused on how God works in our lives, and why He allows things to take place in our lives. Think of an instance in your life where you felt that you were being let down, and didn't believe in God. Well, what good came out of it?? Think real hard. If you can't think of anything, maybe it hasn't happened yet. We have also talked about how God is all knowing, and how he allows us to make decisions in our lives. It was well put where someone said "You're at a restaurant, and you have a choice in what you want to order for a drink. You're with your dad, and he knows that you always order Pepsi." You still have a choice on what you want to order for a drink, but your dad still knows what you're going to chose. God is the same way. He knows our future, and what choices we are going to make. But he allows us to make our own choices anyways. I will try and keep everyone updated on what goes on. Wednesday night services have continued, and we have continued to talk about the dangers secular music can have on teenagers.

Sunday, October 22, 2000---We are still discussing "I kissed Dating Goodbye" in Sunday School. What is love? Love is not an emotion. Is there such a thing as "love at first sight?"

Liz did Bible Study tonight. She talked about things in her life. She had some Bible verses, and I am going to get them on here once I ask her what they were. She did a good job, and I really enjoyed it. We also discussed how we can help our friends when they need it.

**MUSIC TO DIE FOR** October 18, 2000---Tonight, we watched a movie about secular bands, and how they influence teenagers. The movie talked about the lyrics, and how the rock n roll age brought about this kind of music today.

Ephesians 5:3-8

Philippians 4:8

Psalm 119:37

Sunday, October 15, 2000----We are still discussing "I Kissed Dating Goodbye." in Sunday School.---**STRESS**---Bible Study: I led discussion tonight. I talked about stress in our lives, using a demonstration where Lee had to put on all of these clothes, then she stated how heavy she felt, etc. When she took those extra clothes off, she felt much lighter. I related this to stress and our worries, where we should hand those over to God, and he will take care of us.

Please read II Corinthians 7:5-7

(taken from teen devotional Bible) Someone once told me that God speaks to us in our struggles but shouts to us in our tragedies. He's always there, but he wants to make extra sure we know he's there when we hurt. One of the ways he shows us is by sending help, and one of the ways he sends help is through our friends.

1. Think of a time you cheered up a friend. Was it easy? Was it worth it?
2. Give someone a note or a word of encouragement this week.

Matthew 6:25-34

This passage means that as long as God is first in our lives, we can be confident that he'll give us everything we need. He will always take care of us. So, you don't have to stress about anything, because God will take care of us.

1. What are some things that stress you out? How can God help you deal with those things?

Wednesday, October 11, 2000---**PRIORITIES**---Read the following verses on this topic:
Matthew 6:19-34
Luke 12:33-34
Luke 14:15-24
Luke 18:18-25
Revelation 3:15-19
Something to talk about....
What did Jesus mean when he said, "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Luke 12:34)?
Why is it hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God? (see Luke 18:25)
What do you tend to cling to that crowds God out?
Where is your treasure? What is your treasure?
If Jesus told you, "One thing you lack" (like he told the rich young ruler in Luke 18), what one thing would he be talking about?
