Rather than provide a traditional biography of the band, this biography will be more like an FAQ. Many other sites such their official website, Wikipedia, or Tooth and Nail provide a much better history of the band and I would probably just end picking out parts from them (and I don't want to steal).

The name of the band, as they explain, refers to God-in times of need, God is there to support you, regardless of the size of your problems-in effect, your "crutch" (Wikipedia).
