Flames

Dancing flames, revealing charms,
Cradling kettles with invisible arms,
Flickering, curling, burning bright,
A welcome glow in the darkest night,
Consuming all, within your path,
Producing heat, we sense your wrath.

Are you angered by the winds that taunt,
The smoke you send, to chase and haunt?
Or do you dance to show a pride,
The beauty possessed, you just can't hide.
The colours of dusk, the shades of dawn,
In one less vibrant, would look forlorn.

So wear those red and amber hues,
Leave to the sky the cooler blues,
Dance for me, enchant me more,
You change each time, could never bore,
The melody known to you alone,
Or is it the wind on which its blown.

Jewel of the night, awesome power,
Stay and dance - just one more hour...
