Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)-funded
research
To
promote international scientific cooperation, the JSPS encourages
highly qualified researchers from around the world to conduct joint research
activities with colleagues at Japanese universities and research institutes. Towards
the end of my PhD, when I was pondering about my next move, I received a kind
offer from my supervisor Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto to join his ongoing project as a
post-doc. However, I was very keen to assess my aptitude further and try for
the JSPS fellowship. I applied for the fellowship while I was at the final
semester of my PhD, and was delighted to receive it. I completed the PhD on
September, 2007 and started the fellowship from October 1, 2007.
In
addition to the monthly stipend of the fellow, JSPS allots research funds to
the fellow and the host professor. I received grant for the following proposal.
