10-Nov-2004 - Singin' In The Rain
I have always loved a good musical and this one has now won a place in my heart. I enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. There was a scene at the end that I thought was a little unnecessary to the storyline, but that seems to happen a lot in musicals (chimney sweep dances in Mary Poppins?!), so I wasn't too phased. How hot is Gene Kelly!
06-Nov-2004 - Psycho
So scary! I will never shower again. Just kidding. I may have been scared when it was first released (had I been alive). Instead I laughed. It was a fun movie, but not the scary thriller I thought it would be.
05-Nov-2004 - Some Like It Hot
This was a fun movie, although I was feeling fairly restless when I watched it, so I probably didn't enjoy it as much as I could have had I been more relaxed. I always loved Marilyn Monroe when I was younger, but now I'm not so sure. She plays the dumb blonde so well! I did enjoy it though and developed a bit of a crush on Joe myself.
03-Nov-2004 - Vertigo
I really enjoyed Vertigo for the most part. Kim Novak is beautiful and I hadn't seen any of her movies before this one. I felt sad for Midge though. Of course wherever there is a beautiful woman for the hero to fall in love with at first sight, there will be a plain-looking woman who has her heart set on him knowing she will never have him. All in all a good movie, but I really didn't like the ending. I am starting to realise that it's just a Hitchcock trait though.
04-Apr-2004 - The African Queen
I really enjoyed this movie. Especially loved the leeches and gnats and hearing the church sing the same verse of Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah 5 times in a row.
Why did this make the list?
I love movies, but I haven't really seen many of the "classics" (ie. older movies). I thought this list would be a good starting point.
Before I found this list, I had already seen E.T., Jaws, Rebel Without A Cause, Schindler's List, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Star Wars and The Wizard of Oz. Most of them I think I would enjoy watching again.
