No more promises Last week P and I went to see The Lion King. The Disney cartoon has always been one of my favourites, originally because Simba was voiced by my teenage crush, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, but now just because it's a lovely story. Ever since I saw there was a stage production I wanted to go, and now that it is almost finished playing, we finally got to see it. The puppetry was amazing, the music was fantastic and almost made me cry, and the costumes were sensational. I will never forget the giraffes, who were walking on stilts (both arms and legs), and singing at the same time. And now that this weekend is almost here, I'll reminisce briefly about last weekend. P and I have decided that, while we need to do some work around the house to get ready for the munchkin's arrival, we also need to have fun. So most weekends from now on will consist of one "job" and one "fun" activity. And some weekends will just be all about the fun stuff. Last weekend we bought a bookcase, so we could move all of our many books out of the old furniture in the baby's room, and into the lounge room. It has changed the whole space, and I love the feel of our living room now. Although it might not seem like "work", that was our one work thing for the weekend. Our fun thing was to go bowling with the 58 club. There actually ended up being more of us who tagged along than there were kids, but we still had fun. We also got to meet my brother's lovely girlfriend at the bowling alley. As soon as she walked in, I loved her. Doesn't that sound silly? Charlotte is absolutely beautiful, and even before I was introduced and got to speak to her, I knew I would like her. We didn't chat much at the bowling alley, but we went around for dinner that night and got to hang out with her for a bit. Then on Sunday after church we did it all again for lunch. I must say I really think she is wonderful, and I'm so happy for Dan. Very much excited that she may be coming to our church camp, and we will get to see her again. Because as well as a lovely lady for my brother, I think she will be a good friend for the rest of us. Yay! In other news, yesterday mum and I purchased a couple of really cute outfits for the bub (they were on sale), and today we are hitting the shops in Sydney, and catching up with LJ for lunch. I am finally starting to feel better (as in, not nauseous all the time), although I am still more tired than I would like. But at least the house no longer looks like a bombs hit, and we are starting to eat properly again. I am even exercising. Progress! We have also hired a doppler for a month, which is a machine that picks up the baby's heart beat. Apparently you should be able to find it between 10 and 12 weeks. We tried it on Wednesday and managed to pick up my pulse (I'm alive!), as well as the sounds my placenta is making. As yet, no luck with locating the baby's heart, but we are not worried. I have a feeling that my placenta is in front, and so it is harder to hear the heartbeat through. We will continue trying every couple of nights, until we have some success. Tomorrow we have our work thing planned, but not our fun thing. We are going to finally finish cleaning out the last of the junk in the baby's room, and then organise to sell my old bedroom furniture. I am supposed to be coming up with the entertainment portion of the weekend, and as yet I have nothing. If it's warm, I'd love to do something outside. Maybe a nice long walk somewhere scenic? I am really stuck for ideas. Any suggestions? |
