Chapter 5



I was woken up by the sound of my phone bleeping I reaching into the bag and took it out opening the text message which was from
�I�ve stayed home again today, Mum can�t get the day off work at all come home� I read I got up and made my way out I ran to my 
house and opened the door I huggedas she came from the kitchen 
�I�m just gonna get a hot shower a minute� I said going upstairs into the shower room I turned the shower on minutes later I 
was disturbed bybanging on the door I opened it and she pushed me inside locking the door again
�What th�� I started but she silenced me 
�Dads come back his car just pulled up the drive hopefully he�s just forgotten something� she whispered then there was a knock at the door 
my heart thudded hard inside my chest 
�darling� Dad called I went and hid behind the shower curtain as she opened the door and popped her head round the corner 
�Yes Dad� she answered
�I wondered if you knew where I'd left my pager� Dad asked her 
�On the table in the living room it might be hidden under a newspaper� she replied 
�Oh right yes well I�ll be off again then bye sweetie� he said and left we heard the front door slam shut and a car door close went 
to check if he�d gone
�Coast clear� she said and I sighed with relief he�d kill me if he knew I was here I carried on having my shower and changed into some 
clean fresh clothes before going downstairs into the kitchen and seeing a plate of sausages, bacon, egg, chips and beans on the table
�You must be starving�said putting a plate down for her self I nodded and gratefully ate what she had cooked 
�Thanks� I said and began to wash up 
�No problem�smiled as she dried and put stuff away 
�I hated last night� she suddenly said 
�Me too� I said 
�I went up to your room and sat in my usual place wishing that this was all just a terrible nightmare and thinking what we may have been 
chatting about�
�Same here� I said walking into the living room followed by Anouk
�So you feeling better today?� I asked sitting on the sofa
�A little probably be back in school tomorrow� she replied and I nodded we chatted for a while longer 5PM soon came around and I left the 
house after saying yet another emotional goodbye toI went back to my �Home� another night alone and cold the nights were getting 
even darker and colder as winter was approaching�
