A chance to get involved
The Network was established in January 2002 to work towards making Croydon London's first Fairtrade Borough. It now has more than 100 members and aims to:
- Raise awareness of Fairtrade in Croydon and encourage action through:
- Local community events such as Croydon's Summer Festival
- Special events and activities including tastings and markets
- Working with others committed to Fairtrade, like the Co-op, on activities like the Chocolate Challenge and Co-op Fairtrade Roadshow
- Mobilise resources by providing a:
- Starting point for local and national Fairtrade information and contacts.
- List of individuals who are willing to participate in awareness raising policy
- Provide opportunities for deepening knowledge and understanding of Fairtrade to Network members through events like the Fairtrade debate about Make Poverty History which included Nestle's Head of External Affairs (based at the UK head office of Nestle in Croydon) and the Chief Executive of the Day Chocolate Company.
How to get involved...
If you don't already, why not consider buying Fairtrade on a regular basis. A list of local outlets is available here. If you would like to get more actively involved and work with other like minded people to spread the word, please sign up to the Network by using the online form provided.
You can also contribute by volunteering in the Fair Enough Fairtrade shop, or using products from the shop to offer a Fairtrade stall or refreshments in your place of work or other organisation. To find out more about how you can link up with the Fair Enough shop in this way, click here.
