....And now.....in glorious technicolour, Dan and Suzie's trip to the Boundry Waters Canoe Area Wilderness!!!!!!
Suzie came to visit me in Minnesota in september of 2000, so we took the liberty of going up north to the canadian border to see the lakes in the wilderness and catch the "fall" colours as the trees turned. Well...mighty pretty it was indeed, just see below for the views captured on my camera!
We were lucky enough to see a moose (MMMOOOOOOOOOSSSSSEEEEEEEE!!!!!!), some otters, the northern lights, impressive viwes of the star filled sky, lots of trees and plenty of water. We camped on the shore line or on islands in the bear infested wilds for 4 nights and didn't see anyone for 3 days in a row. We kept the bears from stealing our food by tieing it up in a tree with a bear rope, see below for my bear impression.
Inbetween lakes we had to "portage" or carry the canoe and back packs along trails through the forest. Obviously I had to carry the canoe, apart from once. You can laugh at Suzie's portageing skills below!
All in all a very out doors experience. I even caught a fish, a not massive, but rather sharp toothed northern pike! My very first fish ever!!
