Chapter 10

"Ohh Mark Paul Gosslaar, he’s hot," Julia said stopping on an episode of Saved By the Bell.

"Isn’t he though?" Britney agreed. "I used to watch this show every Saturday."

"Me too!" Kelly nodded. "This was the coolest show!"

"I’ve seen every episode at least five times," Julia confessed. "I haven’t seen it in years though."

"What was your favorite episode?" Britney asked. "I always liked the one where Kelly, Jessie, and Lisa were a singing group."

"That was a good one but I always thought the Zack Attack one was the best," Kelly said.

"Well those both have their moments this one was mine, actually," she said nodding toward the television where ‘Zack’ was wiping oil off the duck.

"I cried the first time I saw this one," Britney blushed.

"You cried?" Justin busted up laughing coming into the room. "How lame!"

"Shut up," Britney exclaimed, throwing a pillow at him.

"So what if she cried?" JC questioned coming into the room. "There’s nothing wrong with that."

"You’re just saying that because you cried too," Joey laughed following him into the room.

"I did not!" JC exclaimed sitting down next to Julia.

"Did so! I remember cause Julia called you Ducky for a month," Joey said.

"Oh I remember that," Kelly laughed. "You used to quack every time he came into the room and then Joey would explain to anyone who didn’t know, why."

"Why I am still friends with you all again?" JC sighed.

"Cause you love us, duh," Joey replied.

"No I love Julia," JC said, laying his head on her shoulder.

"You’re so sweet, Ducky," Julia giggled.

"Ugh! Thank you for reminding her about that, Joe," JC groaned.

"No problem, C," Joey grinned.

"So what are your plans for the day, ladies?" Justin questioned after they’d stopped teasing each other.

"We’ve got our final fittings," Julia answered.

"Then we’re going to do a little shopping," Britney responded.

"How about you guys?" Kelly inquired.

"We’re supposed to go record a little," JC replied.

"Sounds like fun," Julia nodded.

"Well I think that’s our cue to go," Kelly said standing up, shaking her head at Joey and Justin who were singing the theme song to Saved by the Bell, as the credits began to roll for the show.

"Sounds like a good idea," Britney agreed.

"Bye, Ducky," Julia giggled giving JC a kiss on his cheek.

"Bye, Ju," JC replied.

"You look beautiful, Julia," Kelly exclaimed when she walked out of the changing room.

"Thank you," Julia smiled, looking at herself in the mirror.

"Just image what she’ll look like when they finish dollin her up," Lily said as she looked at Julia in the dress trying to figure out if there’s anywhere it needed to be adjusted.

"You’re gonna blow everyone away," Britney said. "JC’s in for a real treat."

"Thank you," Julia said again.

"Is it too tight or not tight enough anywhere?" Lily questioned, looking her over again.

"It’s a little loose in the top but it just needs to be laced tighter," Julia answered. "You did such an amazing job with it, Lil."

"You’ve only been telling me what kind of dress you’ve wanted since middle school," Lily replied.

"Maybe so but no one else could’ve done a better job."

"You’re gonna give me a big head," Lily giggled. "Go change so I can make sure these two’s dresses fit."

"All right," Julia nodded, looking at herself one more time before walking into the dressing room.

After Kelly and Britney tried their dresses on the trio bid Lily good-bye and exited the store heading towards Julia’s Lincoln Navigator.

"Where to now?" Julia questioned.

"Anywhere I can try on clothes without the fear of ruining them," Kelly said. "I’m so afraid every time I try my dress on I’m gonna ruin it somehow."

"Me too," Julia nodded.

"I’m extra careful cause I ripped my prom dress like an hour before prom and had to wear one of my cousin’s old ones," Britney said.

"How horrible!" Julia exclaimed. "I bought a white dress for prom one year and I was touching up my make up and knocked a container of base onto the front of it and my mother had to run me to a dress shop that one of her friends owned."

"That was when you wore that gold one, wasn’t it?" Kelly questioned. "The one Joey stepped on and tore when we were leaving?"

"Yah, my mother was ready to kill me the next morning when she found it," Julia nodded. "That’s why she’s decided she’s in charge of this dress as soon as it’s ready to leave the store."

"Ruin two dresses in one day and people don’t trust you, what’s up with that?" Britney giggled.

-

"This is such a wonderful song," Justin commented reading over the lyrics. "Julia’s gonna love it."

"I hope so," JC replied.

"She will," Joey said. "She thinks things like this are sweet."

"Yah I mean who doesn’t like having songs written for them?" Chris questioned. "Especially such sweet ones."

"I guess you’re right," JC answered looking over the lyrics again. "Well if we’re gonna get this recorded we better get started."

"We should release it as a single," Lance said.

JC shook his head. "This isn’t a single song."

"Are you kidding me? It’s got unforgettable love song written all over," Chris said.

"It wouldn’t be as special then," JC replied. "Lets just record, huh?"

"All right," agreed the other four.

==

"Think you packed enough?" JC questioned looking at the four suitcases and hanging bag Julia had placed by the bedroom door.

"We’re gonna be gone for three weeks," Julia replied. "A week’s worth of winter clothes takes up a lot of space."

"If you say so," he said as he finished packing his clothes. "How many pairs of shoes did you bring?"

"Suitcase full," she admitted. "But think about it, I need my shoes for my dress, shoes for the rehearsal dinner, deck shoes for on the ship, tennis shoes, shoes to go with my formals-"

"Forget I asked," JC replied placing his suitcases by hers. "One more to go."

"I’ve already started on Micah, actually," Julia said as they started toward his room.

"He only needs two pairs of shoes," JC said.

"And a pair of sandals," Julia added.

"Okay I’ll give you the sandals."

"Okay so lets get him finished up," Julia said. "They’ll be here soon to pick us up."

"Can you believe we’re on our way to Italy to get married?"

Julia shook her head. "If someone would’ve told me back in high school we were gonna get married I would’ve told them they were insane."

"Same here," JC agreed. "It makes sense though."

"Yeh?"

"Yah, we’ve always had a lot in common and we’re best friends, that always helps in a marriage."

"And we’ve known each other long enough to know each other’s boundaries," Julia nodded.

"Which means less fights usually."

"Julia, JC, we’re back," Pepper called from the downstairs.

Closing Micah’s suitcase Julia smiled at JC, "Ready?"

JC nodded grabbing both of the suitcases. "Lets go."

=

"I’m so nervous."

"Why are you nervous, Brit?" Julia questioned as her mother tightened the corset top of her dress.

"What if I mess something up? Ruin your whole wedding?"

"That’s not going to happen. You know how to walk," Julia replied. "You’ll be able to make it to the end of the isle without any troubles."

"I’m such a dork, I should be comforting you, not the other way around," Britney said.

"Don’t worry about it," Julia said.

"Yah one of my braid’s maids hyperventilated right before she was supposed to go out and things still went fine," Kaia said.

"I didn’t hyperventilate!" Caitlin exclaimed. "I merely had a small attack of nerves."

"Of course, Cait," Julia giggled.

"You’re one to talk, Julia," Caitlin said. "You’re the one who started crying right before she went out at my wedding."

"I was five months pregnant and convinced I was never gonna get married," Julia cried.

"Ahh the lovely sound of sisters getting along on one’s wedding day," Pepper joked

"It must run in the family," Lily said. "I’ve heard about both your wedding and my mother’s."

"I’ll have to agree with you on that," Pepper smiled. "I can’t believe my baby girl is getting married."

"Me either, Mama," Julia replied. "It’s not even because I’m pregnant!"

"You don’t have to be pregnant for someone to want to marry you," Pepper exclaimed.

"I was kidding, Mama," Julia replied. "That’s how I deal with being nervous."

"Of course," Pepper nodded. "You look beautiful."

"Thank you," Julia smiled. "You do too."

-

"I wish you would’ve cut your hair," Karen said looking at JC as he finished dressing.

"Julia likes my hair like this, Mom," he replied, tying his tie.

"Of course," Karen nodded. "You look very handsome."

"Thank you," he said giving her a hug.

"What was that for?"

"For being so wonderful and everything you’ve done to make sure everything went smoothly," he answered.

"You deserve a prefect wedding, sweetheart," Karen replied.

"Ahh how sweet," joked the other members of *NSYNC when they came into the room.

"Shut up," JC replied shaking his head at the four.

"We’ve been sent to tell you it’s time for pictures," Joey said.

"All right," JC nodded taking one last look at himself.

-

"Julia, get away from the door," Pepper said when she spotted Julia looking through a crack in the door into the hallway.

"I just wanna see how JC and Micah look, is that a crime?" Julia replied.

"Against the wedding rules," Pepper nodded.

Rolling her eyes Julia followed her mother away from the door. "How much longer until the wedding?"

"An hour," Britney answered.

"We’ll be lining up soon and as JC gets in position, you get to leave the room," Kelly said.

"I have to wait that long?" Julia groaned. "Why is it that the bride has to wait till the very last?"

"Because that’s just how things have always gone," Pepper answered. "Now don’t complain, these next sixty minutes will fly by."

"Anyone wanna play a card game?" Julia asked after a little while.

"Whatcha got in mind?" Britney questioned.

"Poker?"

"Sounds like fun," she and the others agreed, sitting down as well as each could without wrinkling her dress.

"Ladies, it’s time to line up," Julia’s grandmother, Belinda, said sticking her head into the room.

"Right after this hand, Gram," Julia promised. "Show ‘em ladies."

One by one everyone laid her cards down the table.

"Yahoo, I win again," Julia grinned.

"How is it that you can win every hand?" Britney questioned.

"I’ve played a lot of poker in my days," Julia answered. "You’ll hafta remind me to talk you about the time I played with the guys and Kelly."

"I remember that game," Kelly shook her head. "It’s a good story though."

"No time for stories though, you all need to get into place," Pepper said gathering up the cards.

=

"It’s time for Mr. and Mrs. Chasez to share their first dance as a married couple," Joey said.

"This is a special song that JC wrote just for Julia," Chris added.

"You wrote me a song?" Julia exclaimed as JC led her onto the dance floor.

"Yah... I hope you like it," he answered. "Shh, just listen," he added when she started to open her mouth.

"Ohmigod," she whispered when it was over. "That was beautiful."

"I’m glad you liked it," he stated, wiping at the tears that were sliding down her cheeks, as they danced to the next song. "Don’t cry."

"Like it? I love it!" she exclaimed. "And how can I not cry? That was incredible!"

"I try," JC blushed.

"If I can’t cry, you can’t blush," Julia laughed.

"All right, I promise not to blush if you won’t cry."

"Sounds fair to me," Julia nodded. "If you’ll excuse me though, I owe Micah a dance," she said when the song finished.

"Of course," he said following her back to their table.
