NAF Legacy Markers - Vampire Team 2003
These are the markers for the NAF 2003 Legacy team. This is a competition open to any member of NAF (Nuffle Amorical Football), a group of people who play and promote Games Workshop's Bloodbowl, where individuals volunteer to paint and sometimes build or provide miniatures. After all of the entries are in, one lucky person will win all of the submitted figures.
The theme is the new Vampire team one that is due to be released around December 2003. GW graciously provided advance copies of the miniatures for a dozen of the participants to use. The rest of the entries are made up of modified GW figures to suit the team. As coaching staff and others support personnel were already allocated, I chose to make a Score Marker, a Turn Marker and 8 Re-Roll markers. I was trying to keep with the theme of the Vampire team when creating the various markers, so they include rats, bats, coffin lids, grave markers and in the case of the Score Marker a pile of skulls. The concept from my end was to create Score and Turn markers with the NAF Logo on them and to have the countries of the contest participants represented on the re-roll markers. As I didn't want to imply that one country was any better than another I left the Leader re-roll at just a bat and tombstone.
The Turn Marker has the current NAF Logo upon the shield at the base of the signpost.
Several views of the score marker. The NAF logo on the pole is the one recently replaced by what is on the turn marker shown right. How it was put together is detailed below.
The Leader re-roll with the markings 'Lead From the Grave' on the tombstone.
Germany with two entries - Tim and Traveller.
The UK has 6 participants in this contest, including myself. Canada has three people involved.
The USA has the most entries with 13.
Squiggoth represents the Netherlands. The final re-roll marker is for the E.U. as a whole.
Joker-BBBL is the sole French entry.
One thing that I realize in hindsight is that some people were spelling NAF in their own language as FAN and I did not take this into account. My apologies. If I am notified relatively quickly (ie before the sealer goes on) I can try to correct this.
This shows the progression from the bare metal base to the finished Score Marker.
Parts used to make this were: one 25mm square base, one WFB Khorne Champion's metal base, the pole from a Squig Herder, the shield from the chaos warrior shield sprue, a skull from the skeleton sprue and green stuff.

As usual the blame for out of focus pictures and poor paint jobs rests solely with me. No digital cameras were harmed or even used in making the pictures. However my 35mm camera is probably a bit irked and the poor person who was given my photo CD by mistake courtesy of Boots is most likely extremely confused. The unlying miniatures used are all manufactured by Games Workshop. Please see the disclaimer on the front page for the full extent of my desire not to tread on peoples' toes...
thank you.
