A Christmas Gift for Niel |
I seem to be doing a reasonable amount of painting for Niel. Not that he asks for it. It just comes along with birthdays and other occasions. In this instance, Christmas is around the corner and I was wondering what to get him. I knew that he played Inquisitor, but he did so in 28mm with 40k miniatures. I thought that he might like an actual 54mm Inquisitor figure. With the help of his wife and a 'blonde moment', she passed on that Niel liked the Delphun Gruss figure best of all. No worries. Just get a figure in 28mm scale to match, paint both of them and voila - Niel can play with them in either scale. GWUK made this a bit difficult, but I got there in the end. |

These are the 28mm figures for Niel: a Techpriest Engineer figure (closest thing that GW currently makes to the Delphun Gruss miniature and two Servo Skulls. |

Surrounding this text are pictures of the 54mm Inquisitor model 'Delphan Gruss'. They show most of the figure pretty well. The only thing that I am dissappointed with regard to the photos is that I did not get an in focus shot of the scroll on his left hip. Across the top of it, I wrote 'Niel'. The miniatures were considerably more fun to paint than I would have originally thought. The scenic base is a bit of a washout though. It doesn't add much to the figure and made assembly more difficult. Perhaps it works better with other figures in the series. |
