Dungeon Bowl - 2nd Edition Reborn
I figured that it would be my Winter project and yes, it took the Winter...
Back in late October 2004, I thought about making a 3-D 'proper' copy of the Dungeonbowl game. I talked with several people (Galak, Traveller and Frank amongst others) and decided to go the Hirst moulds route so I could have a pitch that looked more than Dungeonbowl than D&D. Moulds were ordered. Plaster was gotten. Casting was done. Then more casting was completed. And yet more casting was done until I had a fair pile of little plaster bricks to assemble. Several weeks of assembly and painting took place. Then came the decoration. I really wanted to do a bit more than what appeared on the final product, but realized that it would get in the way of the pits and doors. But now in March 2005, it is completed and awaiting a trip to Nottingham in May so that I might play a match vs. Frank at Bugman's the Friday night before the Blood Bowl tournament. If you are in the area, please stop by.
I am going to let the pictures tell the story as best I can. All of the components have been reproduced as best as I could make them. Poker chips are used for counters (pits, treasure results). Teleports, chests, doors are all there. There is detailing similar to the original boards from blood splatters to mushrooms. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to e-mail me.
Various photographs that show the doors (above), the teleports (purple, numbered objects), pits and pit tokens (the red chips), the chests with their green tokens and various decor.
I would like to thank everyone who supported the project along the way if nothing else by keeping me working at it until it was finished. I don't know what other projects I may end up doing in the future but this shows me what a bit of time and application can achieve.
Thanks to Tony at Guildford Comics I have some Mage Knight Dungeon tiles and accessories. They are in scale and will be used to expand the dungeon in scope by adding corridors and additional modular rooms. I will add on a page devoted to that in the near future.
