The mountain's peaks were even darker than the rest of the mountain, if that was possible. You look towards the tall mountain not too far off, standing alone and bent under the dark sky. Dark grey clouds above threaten rain and thunder to break the darkness hanging about the etched surface of the mountain. The wind howled around your ears, making you wish to be out of the storm's rage. But you are out here in the ravaging wind for a reason other than to gauge the storm's height first-hand. The inhabitants of the Forest had said no one had been to this mountain in years. It seemed no one had the courage to get near the dark, mysterious mountain, and had thus stayed away. But you wanted to see the mountain yourself, wanting to know what it was like there. You decide that the constant storm about the mountain cannot keep you away. So, this in mind, you venture towards the mountain in the distant, not letting their words or your own keep you away. The wind picks up, scattering dirt and sand about your feet. And also the wind brings a strange smell, one that makes you wince slightly. Sulfur.... where could the smell of sulfur be coming from? Another reason to reach the mountain, answers would be found there. The clouds above threaten to attack in the sky, boiling madly in the darkness. You glance to the mountain's peak, and as you do a bolt of lightning hits the side of the mountain. You keep walking, your step faltering only a minute in the afterwake of the bolt. Pulling your coat against the wind, you hug your arms tightly to your sides, trying your best to keep warm. Eventually you find yourself at the base of the mountain, looking on. Your eyes follow the line of the mountain, looking for anything interesting or different. And then a black indentation in the side of the mountain catches your eyes. Going closer you see that it is a cave, leading deeper and deeper into the heart of the mountain. You wonder breifly about whether it is safe or not, and about the absence of light. But you feel tempted to enter the cave, see where it leads. Maybe adventure...? Upon entering the cave you are struck with how dark it is. You cannot see anything in the cave, not even the very hands before your face. Putting your hands on both sides of the cave, you follow it down and into the cave. The cave narrows and begins to slowly rise. It seems that it is not a cave, but a long tunnel. You blink your eyes uselessly, but to no avail can you get used to the dark light. You trip every now and then on the rocks strewn across the tunnel floor, and the dirt sifting up makes you eyes water and your nose itch. A wave of heat takes you out of your small reverie. You had been paying to much attention to not falling and holding onto the side's of the tunnel that you had not noticed how warm it was getting. And now as you pay attention, you notice that the darkness is not so heavy and there is a faint hint of light. Perhaps you have reached the other side of the mountain already? You take your hands of the side of the tunnel, daring to walk the rest of the way on your own. The heat only gets worse, and eventually to the point where you are ready to turn back. But the heat stops growing, staying at a blistering, but stable temprature. The tunnel's floor rises more, and it seems that it will end quickly. And then it does. You find yourself on a cliff edge overlooking a sea of lava. Sulfur wafts up to your nose, making your face grimace. The heat is nearly unbearable, but you make yourself take it. You hear a noise to your right, and you turn to be confronted by a woman. Her pale skin is contrasted by her dark black hair. Her red dress scrapes the floor, leaving a trail behind. "Hello, I am Karasu. What are you doing here?" "Uhm...I was just exploring." She nods her head, but stares at you as if she is annoyed. "Well," she finally continues, "A home has been made in this volcano and a dragon come to live within it. Would you like to meet Sataniera?" |
