You find yourself in a large plain, desolate and barren, stretching to the distant horizon. The plains are not all barren, though. Not too far off is a small thicket of trees, darkness playing within.You decide to explore this forest, realizing that the colorful green of the forest seemed better than to stand in the desolate and colorless land that you now find yourself in. You begin your journey over to the stand of trees, the sun in the xenith of the sky. The sun's rays burn down upon you, and the heat begins to take it's toll. You soon find yourself near the edge of the forest, trying to look within. Darkness dances between the trees, so dark that you can not see anything within a few feet. You take the few steps that require you to enter the forest's realm, holding your breath. Once over the edge of the forest, you gasp at the sight. No longer was there any light, the darkness was complete. The canopy above blocks out any light, and you stare around, wondering what you should do.
You stumble around a bit, looking around for any source of light. You look upwards and see a patch where the canopy breaks, a faint light coming through. You head over, luckily not falling into the bushes that line your way. You soon find yourself below the break in the canopy and look above into the sky. Your jaw hangs open as you realize that instead of the bright blue of a sky day, the sky was black and filled with the stars not only appeared at night. And there was the moon, in the center of the sky, shining brightly onto the night sky around. How could this be, though? You had entered at midday and had not been within this forest for very long. You decided to walk further into the forest, maybe the answer to this mystery might come to you.
Wondering how to travel without be able to see, you look around in the dull light from the stars and the moon. You see that there is another break in the canopy not far off. You head over to this new break, and to your surprise, you see another break not too far from the one you stand under now. After each break you find, you spot another one not far off, and soon you are able to make good progress through the forest without stumbling into unknown objects or falling down. Each time you look through the break, you find that the moon changes everytime you see it. One time it would be a small sliver, and then a qaurter. Every time you look through the break you see that the moon is going through it's stages quickly.
You see the next break and head over to it. Instead of another break, you find yourself in a small clearing, looking up into the sky. A full moon looks down upon you, shining brightly among the trailing stars. But the stars shine brighter than the moon. The moon seems to begin to fade as you watch it in the night sky. And soon the moon is gone, and all that is left in this strange night sky, is the stars that shine brightly, ever so lightly upon the trees and clearing about you. The stars seem to hold your gaze, and among the beauty and tranquility of the beautiful and magnificent night sky, you forget why you are here, standing in this clearing all alone.
You hear some rustling in the bushes to your right, and the peacfulness from the tranquil night sky is broken. You stare towards the sound, wondering what the origin might be...
A man steps out, a long sword held within his hand. His black hair is as dark as the night sky, and the starlight shines brightly upon it. His eyes hold no malice, and his sword is put away.
"Sorry for the rude entrance, but I do not usually get many visitors."
"Uhm yeah. What is this place anyway and why are you here?" you ask the man as he stands before you, bathed in the bright starlight floating down from above.
"First, let me introduce myself. My name is Nathan. This forest is under a spell, you should have noticed the way the time of day changed as you entered." He waits for your head to nod before he continues on. "This spell keeps this forest in an eternal night, night will never end here. I have decided to live within this forest because I love the beauty of the night, especially of the stars. You may stay here as long as you wish.
