| The dark night air seems to envelope you completely as you look around the small plain. The moonlight barely illuminates the area around you, offering only enough light for you to decide where to go. The plains seem to go nowhere, the ends lost in the darkness of the complete night. It is as if you are on a small island of moonlight, the grass waving in the slight wind, all sights just dark smudges on the darker sky. You peer around into the darkness, trying, desperately trying to see some salient point in the darkness only marred by the twinkling of flashing stars. A cloud moves away from the moon, letting more moonlight come through the darkness. You see a gray smudge brighten in the moonrays, barely standing out from the darkness, catching for but a moment the moonlight. The clouds then move back, blocking the much needed light once again. But with the scarce light of the stars you are able to walk with sure feet towards where you had last seen the smudge. The ground begin your feet begins to change subtely, the wheat growing in the plain thinning out, the soil becomming more rockier. Soon there was no wheat gently rubbing against your legs, and the ground began to rise. You stop for a moment, wondering at where you might be at. Probably a hill or maybe even a mountain because of the rise in the ground. You look upwards, wanting to see if the clouds above will relent on their hold of the moon's light. You decide that looking upwards is in vain, knowing that wishing will not make it happen. You decide to walk, folling the ground upwards, and find out what is at the top. The ground becomes harder to follow up, but not too much to discourage you. More rocks begin to sprout in your path, tripping up your feet every now and then. You slow your walk, not wanting to fall hard if a rock were to jump out and trip you. The ground becomes harder and gives a feeling of stability, as if the ground were glued to its spot here on the plains. The more you walk, the higher above the ground you become. The more steps your feet take, the more the stars are visible to your eye. As you walk, you notice that the clouds are floating away, leaving the night sky unmarred. You also notice that the ground beneath your feet no longer rises, but goes on a straight path. You walk, almost tiptoeing, through the darkness and silence about you. There are no sounds, as if all had been sucked away from the ears of the stars watching from above. The darkness is warm, not as frightening as it once was. And the clouds disappear, the moon is in full view, beaming upon you as you stop in your tracks. As you stand, looking about you, you realize how beautiful the starry night sky can be. It seems as if there is no horizon, as if there is no land around you, that only you and the night sky exist in this realm. You cannot even see the ground below you, only feel the firmness. Otherwise it seems as if you are floating in the vastness of space, viewing the constellations of stars and planets firsthand. A small sound, like the flutter of wings, startles you from your look across the starry expanse. You turn and find yourself looking at someone else. She bears graceful wings, giving her the appearance of a fairy. Her wings have bright spots on her wings, giving the appearance of stars. "Hello, my name is Midori. This is my realm." She waves her hand aimlessly. "It is very hard to get out, especially for someone unskilled with the stars. I am here to help." You look towards the faery, her eyes filled with sincerity. You nod your head in agreement, and begin to follow her downwards, Midori looking over her shoulder every now and then to make sure you are following closely behind. "So, what is this place?" You ask of the faery as you walk next to her. "This is an extension of the Forest, a place where dragons come to live. I was chosen to come and live here, make this place so a dragon may come and live." "And so? Is a dragon coming to live here with you?" "Yes. A dragon from Bibble dragons. Form sent in and I am anxiously awaiting a reply." You nod your head, glad to hear the happy news. Soon light begins to grow in the sky, the night scene fading out as you walk away from it. Soon you are no longer at the top of the hill or mountain, whatever it may have been. Midori stops and looks into your eyes. "Continue walking and you will soon leave my realm. You may come back when you wish, I enjoy visitors." She smiles before continuing. "I must go and prepare for the dragon to come, may your dreams find you well." And with her last words she walks back into the starry sky, the darkness enveloping her. *** You come by the night realm the next day, wanting to visit the realm of space once again. You are lost in darkness, surrounded by stars when Midori comes up to you. "Follow me," she says silently before walking away. You follow quietly, trying not to make to much noise to break the silence in the darkness. A small patch of moonlight appears before you. A dragon flies into view. The dragon would have been unable to see, because the dragon blends so well into the night sky, but the moonlight allows you to see the dragon. "This is Ysk!" |
