The wind howls through the trees which stretch out around you. The trees about you are gnarled and twisted, as if trying to strangle the blue sky above. You feel closed in, as if the forest about you is closing in around you. You desperately want to leave your present surroundings, desperately want the open sky above you.
Looking to your right you can see a whisper of a path. You brush aside the thick growth of vines hanging to head towards the path. It is hard to climb through the overgrowth of plants, but eventually you find yourself standing on a thin path.
The path must be ages old, it was the only explanation for its poor condition. Plants had slowly eaten away the path's sides, making the trail thinner. It lead out from the vague shape of a clearing, but the clearing was disappearing slowly. You decide to follow the path away from the clearing, hoping that it will lead out of the forest.
The path is just wide enough to allow you to walk easily enough through the forest. Branches and vines try to snag your clothing, occasionally scratching your skin. Small clouds of dust float up from the trail, making the forest seem more close and dim. Only small patches of light come through the canopy, and only small patches of blue can be seen through the green.
The trail curves around a giant tree, forcing you to change your path a bit. As you turn a flicker of light catches your eye. You look closer and you can barely make out the breaking of the tree line. You quicken your steps, desperately wanting to get out of the forest.
And soon the trees break their hold upon your mind, leaving you free to breath fresh air. The trees are now at your back, and before you is a flat plain, leading up to a wide mountain. Wispy clouds hang about the mountain's peak, blending the dark brown mountain in with the light blue sky tinged with gold from the sky above.
The trees behind you seem as if they are trying to reach out and pull you back into their dark grasp. You walk quickly away from the trees, but you have no where to go. You think as you walk away, of where you can go.
Your eyes trail up the mountain's side, momentarily hanging upon the mountain's peak. The mountain is in the center of the wide open plain, in the center of the blue sky. The feeling of the forest still hangs heavy upon you, and you wish to go somewhere that is opposite of that horrible feeling. The mountain's top would be the opposite, and so you decide to try and scale the mountain and find some solace.
You soon find yourself at the base of the mountain, looking up the side of the tall expanse. Looking around, you see a path carved into the mountain's side, newly made. Someone must have come here recently, but why? You ask yourself questions that you cannot answer as you climb onto the path and walk up the mountainside.
The trail is easy to follow, and you have no trouble getting to the top of the mountain. The very top has been levelled to a degree, making a clearing in which to walk about. And you were right in your assumptions. The feeling on top of the mountain is opposite of that in the forest. So high up, looking over the wide expanse of land before you, a sense of freedom takes root in your mind.
As you walk across the area you hear a noise to your right. Turning you are confronted by and elf, tall and lithe. She stands before you, her face calm as she studies you.
After awhile of thinking she says, "Welcome to my home and that of a dragon. The dragon was adopted from City of Dragons. Would you like to see the dragon?" She takes you around a bend and leads you to a blue air dragon, flying high in the bright sky.
