ALHAMD-UL-ALLAH we borned
Muslim and ALHAMD-UL-ALLAH we are Muslims and INSHA-ALLAH we will die Muslim
(Ameen)…. The necessary thing for a Muslim is to obey the commands of ALLAH and
His Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) and then one can say that he love ALLAH and His
Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) as Allah said in Al-Quran:
“Say [Oh, Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)!]: "If you love
Allah, follow me: Allah will forgive you your sins, for Allah is Oft-forgiving,
Most Merciful.” (Surah 3:31)
The things which Allah and His Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him)
forbade us to do we must not do that and the things which Allah and His Prophet
(Peace Be Upon Him) ordered us to do we must do that…otherwise we are said to
be “disobeyer” of ALLAH and His Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him)…now it is our
choice to select one path either right path-the path to reach ALLAH and His
PROPHET (Peace Be Upon Him) or the path to go far from the right path, if we
follow the right path then we are said to be “beloved persons” of ALLAH and His Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him)..May ALLAH show all of us the right path.

The human being is the only creature who has been distinguished
from other creatures with the instinct of knowing right from wrong. He is,
therefore, the only one who is expected to be the perfect image of his Creator.
That is why the objective of his life is to know his Creator and become a
perfect image of his attributes, as Allah says in the Holy Qur'an:
"I have not created jins and humans but, for my
worship"
SALAT or the method of worship is the main media through which a human can
establish a relationship with his Creator and it is one of the main doors which
leads to his complete submission to Allah's will.
Salat also prevents him from wrongdoings. Allah says:
"Verily, the prayer keeps
one from the great sins and evil deeds" (Surah al-Ankaboot 45)
Which shows that Salat or prayer is a guarantee from Allah that
if a worshipper observes prayer with all its conditions, he will be safe from
evils, manifest or hidden, small or great. The Holy Prophet (peace be on him)
asked to the companions, "if one of you had a stream running by his
door and he takes a bath in it five times a day, would any dirt be left on him?."
They replied! "No dirt would be
left on him". The Holy Prophet said: "This is the case with Salat (the five daily prayers) Allah makes the
Salat wipe out his sins".
When we reflect on the creation of the universe and the law that governs it
and the design and variety that pleases our eyes, we naturally are convinced of
existence and greatness of Allah.
Allah says in the Holy Quran:
"In the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the alternation of
the night and the day there are indeed signs for men of understanding;"
Those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and
ponder over the creation of the heavens and the earth: "Our Lord, Thou hast not created this in
vain; nay, Holy art Thou; save us, then, from the punishment of the Fire."
(Surah Aal-e-Imran, verse 19l-192)
This verse beautifully tells us that when a worshipper reflects upon the
structure of the Universe he becomes overwhelmed with the greatness of its
Creator. The ENTITY Who created such an awe-inspiring structure with such
detailed arrangement and accuracy. He is alone to be worshipped and so right
for protection.
There are five daily prayer services participation in which is obligatory. This
may seem a little too much, but it is all a matter of comparative values. Those
who realize the true value of prayer through experience is convinced that time
spent in it are occupied much more beneficially than that spent in other
pursuits.
The Importance of Prayer:
The importance of the prayer in Islam cannot be understated. It
is the first pillar of Islam that the Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned
after mentioning the testimony of faith, by which one becomes a Muslim. It was
made obligatory upon all the prophets and for all peoples. Allah has declared
its obligatory status under majestic circumstances. For example, when Allah
spoke directly to Moses, He said,
"And I have chosen you, so listen to that which is inspired to
you. Verily, I am Allah! There is none worthy of worship but I, so worship Me
and offer prayer perfectly for My remembrance." [Taha 13-14]
"If a person had a stream outside his door and he bathed in it
five times a day, do you think he would have any filth left on him?" The
people said, "No filth would remain on him whatsoever." The Prophet
(peace be upon him) then said, "That is like the five daily prayers: Allah
wipes away the sins by them." (Recorded by al-Bukhari and Muslim.)
Allah says, concerning the plight of the disbelievers on the Day
of Judgement, that they will be asked by the Believers: "What led you into the
Hell-fire?" They will say: "We were not of those who prayed."
(Surah 74:42-43). Allah also says: “Successful
indeed are the Believers, those who humble themselves in their prayers.”
(Surah 23:1-2),
and: “And those who guard [strictly]
their worship, such will be the honoured ones in the Gardens [of Bliss]”
(Surah 70: 34-35).
The Messenger of Allah e
once said: "Prayer is the pillar of religion." (Narrated by
Al-Baihaqi) He also informed us that Islam is built upon five pillars, the
second being to establish prayer five times a day. (Narrated by Al-Bukhaari)
This makes the image very clear: Islam is like a building supported by five
columns; remove just one column and the entire building weakens. In the same
way, when a person stops praying, his faith becomes weak, and the mildest blows
can cause it to crumble. The prayer is so very important that the Prophet e
said: "Verily, between man and polytheism and disbelief is abandoning
prayer." (Narrated by Muslim)
"If a person had a
stream outside his door and he bathed in it five times a day, do you think he
would have any filth left on him?" The people said, "No filth would
remain on him whatsoever." The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) then said,
"That is like the five daily prayers: Allah wipes away the sins by
them." (Recorded by al-Bukhari and Muslim.)
In another hadith, the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said,
"The five daily
prayers and the Friday Prayer until the Friday prayer are expiation for what is
between them." (Recorded by Muslim.)
“Verily, your Master is only Allah and His
Apostle and those who believe, those who establish prayers, and pay the zakat
while bowed (in worship)” (
"Verily, man was created
impatient, irritable when evil touches him and niggardly when good touches him.
Except for those devoted to prayer those who remain constant in their
prayers…" (Al-Maarij 19-23).
From that time, the Prophet e never went through a day without
praying. Just before his migration to Madinah, he was taken on a night journey
to
According
to a Hadith the Prophet of Islam (Peace Be Upon Him) is reported to have said, inna fissalati shifa'a “verily there is cure in salat ".
According to a Muslim scholar, as reported in monthly Urdu magazine, Tahazibul
Akhlaq, Aligarh, India, a Muslim who offers salat regularly has very
little chance of getting arthritis as we exercise our bones and joints while we
offer salat.
In
the light of this Hadith we shall endeavor to describe some orthopedic benefits
of salat in this short note.
1. Regular
exercise reduces cholesterol in the body. Cholesterol causes heart failures,
strokes, diabetes and many other ailments. It is a known fact that people in
professions where exercise is required have less amount of cholesterol in their
bodies.
2. Salat
is an excellent form of exercise to prevent indigestion. In the morning when
stomach is empty, a Muslim is required to offer fewer number of Rak'aat
whereas in the evening after the dinner we offer an extra number of Rak'aat.
3. By
offering Takbir
at the beginning of salat, we move hand and shoulder muscles thereby increasing
the flow of blood towards torso. Akamat performs a similar
function.
4. The
most important function in salat is sajdah where we touch the
ground with our forehead. This posture increases fresh supply of blood to our
brain. Needless to say in certain forms of yoga some adherents stand on their
heads for the same purpose.
5. In
tashah'hud
position, our hip, elbow, knee joints, backbone, wrist joints move in a way
that it provides a form of relaxation to our entire body. Pressure is applied
on the body parts as if it was a kind of massage which releases tension.
6. Heart
in the most important organ in the body. It supplies fresh blood to all body
tissues. These body movements performed during salat are an excellent source of
exercise for our heart as well. According to a Hadith of the Holy Prophet,” There is an organ in the body, when it is
healthy, the whole body is healthy, and when this is sick, the entire body
becomes sick". It is the heart.
7. A
remarkable tissue in our body is cartilage. It is unique in being a living
tissue with no direct blood supply. The only way it receives nutrients and
oxygen is by movements of the joints. The pumping effect forces blood into the
joint area which would otherwise be bypassed. Those who sit at the terminals
are in greater danger of ending up with dead cartilage tissues that will
subsequently wear away. This will leave us with arthritis, painful joints and
paralysis. Bacteria and viruses find safe haven in joints for this reason as no
blood cell can get at them and in most cases neither can antibodies. Salat
therefore, has many orthopedic benefits for all Muslims. Next time you offer
salat, thank Almighty Allah that He made you a Muslim. Indeed, there is
cure in salat.
Prayer
is the second of the five pillars of Islam, the first being belief in the Unity
of God. Prayer is the most potent means of establishing and strengthening one's
communion with one's Maker and of drawing near to Him. It is a dynamic
phenomenon, God hears and responds to prayer. The Islamic concept of prayer is
a direct and uninhibited pouring forth of the soul by the supplicant before the
Divine Majesty in certainty of Allah's grace, mercy, and power. In worship
there is no need of an intermediary between man and his Maker.
”And they were not commanded but to
serve Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience, and being upright, and to
observe Prayer and pay the Zakat. And that is the right religion.”(98:6)
“And I have not created the jinn and
the men but that they may worship Me.” (51:57)
“Observe Prayer from the declining and
paling of the sun till the darkness of the night, and recite the Qur'an at
dawn. Verily, the recitation of the Qur'an at dawn is specially acceptable to
Allah. (17:79)
”And during a part of the night wake
up for its recitation—a supererogatory service for thee. It may be that thy
Lord will raise thee to an exalted station.” (17:80)
”Watch over prayers, and particularly
the middle Prayer, and stand before Allah submissively.”(2:239)
Allah says, concerning the plight of the disbelievers on the Day
of Judgement, that they will be asked by the Believers: "What led you into the
Hell-fire?" They will say: "We were not of those who prayed." (Surah
74:42-43). Allah also says: "Successful indeed are the Believers, those
who humble themselves in their prayers.” (Surah 23:1-2), and: “And those
who guard [strictly] their worship, such will be the honoured ones in the
Gardens [of Bliss]” (Surah 70: 34-35).
