How to Hex Babyz the old-fashioned way!

This is my attempt at teaching to hex, I hope it is helpful to those that are learning!

This is going to be a step-by-step guide to hexing a two-ponied baby girl. It will get you a baby that looks like this

Above are babyz hexed using my guide! Good job to the ladies that hexed them! ! !
The baby on the left three-ponied baby, I'm using her as an example of what the hair will look like. And the size, if you want a preemie.

Getting Started:You will need to download a hex editor. I use Hex Workshop 2.20. Click on the name to go to that site and download the editor. You will also need Carolyn's Colour Guide Click to download.

The next Step: You MUST move all of your babyz from the "Adopted Babyz" folder to the "Grandma's House" folder. This will keep your little ones safe.

You will also need to make a copy of your babyzrez.dll file. You will find it here: my computer/c-drive/program files/mindscape/babyz/resource/rez.dl1

To make a copy: Right click on the file and choose copy. Then right click on an empty space in your resource folder and choose paste. This should make a copy of the file.

Now you are ready to get started! Take a deep breath and make sure you've got some time, because your first hexie will be your hardest! Try to follow these instructions VERY carefully so your baby turns out the way you want her to.

1) Okay, Open up your hex editor and open your babyzrez.dll file. NOT the copy!

2) Go up to "edit" on the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click on "edit" and then "Find".

3) Type this exactly how you see it(because a 'W' is not the same as a 'w' as far as your hex editor is concerned.) Wg.lnz (the l is a lowercase L not a capital i) Make sure these boxes are checked. ASCII, Down, and Match. Then click "Find Next"

4) This will bring you to what you see below.

Wg.lnz....[Defau
lt Linez File].
.\ptzfiles\baby\
babymaster.lnz..
.[Little one]..
Wg.lnz....[256 E
yelid Color]..48

The Blue 48 above is the eyelid color of your baby. Consult your color guide and decide what color you want your babyz eyelids to be. Place your cursor right before the '4' and type the new number OVER the 48. You do not need to delete numbers to type over them in a Hex Editor.

5) Now you want to go down to the ponies section. If you are using the hex editor I recommended above, go to line "00A524A0". (You will find this number at the FAR left of the babyzrez.dll file box.) and you will see

#3.C ;Hair- b
ald..#2.B;Hair-o
range side pony
tails.

If you see this, then you are in the right spot! Now we are going to begin changing the pony tails. Follow these instructions exactly or you may end up with a newly hexed baby that has a VERY unique hair-do!

6) Now you're going to begin changing the hair.

side ponytails..63,.65,.-6
0,.0,.46,.244,.0

The 46 is the color of the little hair tie that lies right next to your babyz head. You want to consult the color guide and choose a color that best suits your baby. I'm partial to the numbers "24" and "99" myself. To change the color. . .again, just put your cursor right in front of the '4' of the '46' and type over it.

46,.244,.0
,.-1,.0,.2,.30,.
8,.0,..-1,..63,.

The '46' above is the same 46 that you have just changed into the color of the hair tie. The '30' is the SIZE of the hair tie. Change it to a '40' or '50'. Depending on your preference as to how big it is. The higher the number, the bigger the tie.

.0,.2,.40,.
8,.0,..-1,..63,.
90,.-80,.5,.10,.
244,.0,.0,.0,.0,.
50,.8,.0,..3,..

The '40' above is the number you just changed from '30'. You may have put a '50' there instead.
Now you want to put your cursor right at the dot in front of the THIRD '0' it is highlighted in blue. Type a 6 over it.
This should make the zero above a '60'
Type a '60' over the blue '50' above as well.

.60,.8,.0,..3
,..63,.110,.-60,.10
,.10,.244,.0,.0
,.0,.1,.40,.8,.0
,..3,..63,.105,.-

The '60' above is the '50' you just changed. You need to do the same thing as above with the THIRD '0' and the '40'.Put your cursor right at the dot before the '0' and type '6' then put your cursor right before the '4' of '40' and type '60' over it.

.0,.1,.60,.8,.0
,..3,..63,.105,.
-40,.-2,.10,.244,.
0,.0,.0,.1,.35,.8,.0
,..3,..63,.

The '60' above is the '40' you just changed. You need to do the same thing with the blue '0' and the blue '30' that I described above. You should be seeing the exact series' of numbers that I have been showing you. I am taking them directly from the 'babyzrez.dll' file.

1,.60,.
8,.0,..3,..63,.
113,.-30,.-5,.10
,.244,.0,.0,.0,.
1,.23,.8,.0,..3,

The '60' above is the '35' you should have just changed. Do what I have described above for the blue '0' and '23'.

That is the end of the first pony. Go back up to the top and repeat the steps for the second pony. The numbers are almost exactly the same. You will start with the '46' you see following this last set of numbers.

7) Now you're going to do eye color. You'll need to go quite aways down in the Wg.lnz section. The line number if you're using the editor mentioned above is "00A54D10" You're looking for this:

..##......[Outli
ne Color Overrid
e]..;Eye color..

You need to consult the color guide and choose the color you want your babyz eyes to be. My favorites again are '24' and '99'. . .Some of the greens are nice too. '66' is a good color for a unique baby.

or..#7..68,.110 ;109
..69,.110 ;109..
#6..#5..68,.149..
69,.149..#4..68
,.14..69,.14..#3..68
,.204..69,.2
04
..#2..68,.16.
.69,.16..#1..68
,.134..69,.134..##

I have tried to make the line-breaks the same as those in the hex editor so you don't get too confused. You must be careful with the eye color numbers, if you make a mistake the eye-color of your baby will automatically go to the default color which is dark green.
You want to change each of the blue numbers you see above to the number you've picked out of the color guide. To use a two-digit color w/ the three-digit number, just space out the first number, and type over the other two.
To use a three-digit color be careful of the '16' and the '14' . Place your cursor right before the '1' of both numbers and type over the number and into the next dot AFTER the '4' or '6' in the '14' and '16'.

If you wanted a normal sized baby you're DONE! Click save and close your hex editor. You need to get a two-ponied babyz code (you can find this on my codes page) to use when you start up your babyz game. All of your babyz should be at grandma's house, so just type the two-pony code you choose into the box that pops up.

If you like how your baby has turned out click Adopt and you have your first (maybe) hexed baby! If it's NOT how you wanted it to turn out. . .start over if you've got the courage. . . .I know it's hard to get something new.

Below are instructions on how to make your baby a preemie.

Go up to the "edit" menu up at the menu bar at the top of the screen and click on "find". In the box that pops up type "Default Scale" Remember to type it EXACTLY how you see it here or the hex editor will tell you it doesn't exist. defaultscale and DefaultScale etc won't go through. It MUST be "Default Scale".

[Default Scal
es].. 100...norma
l pet scale..100
...normal ball s

You want to make that number something between '87' and '95'. The baby at the top of the page is '87'. If you want a Skinnier baby, change the black 100 to a number 5 less than the blue number.

Now you're done! ! ! ! You should have a brand new hexed baby if you folow the directions in bold right above the preeme instructions. Good job! I hope it went well. If you want to send me pictures of your newly hexed babyz, send them to the E-mail address on my home-page. If my guide has been ABSOLUTELY useless, let me know and I'll take the silly thing off my site.

Good luck!
