Books 2

Here are some of the books I've read recently.  For books that I've read previously, see Books 2.  I'll try to keep this page up to date.  =-}

Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy

Stephanie meets a mysterious man all wrapped up in coat, scarf, hat and gloves in the middle of summer.  His name is Skulduggery Pleasant, and he introduces her to the world of magic that she had been unaware of.  And he is a walking, talking skeleton mage out to keep Nefarian Serpine (the bad guy, of course) from getting hold of the Scepter of the Ancients.

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

The fourth book in the wildly popular Twilight series, I'm halfway through this one, and so far so good.  Not awesome, but not bad.  I am listening to this book on CD and am on disc 10 out of 16.  =-)

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

A small story, narrated by Death, following the Book Thief.  The Book Thief's real name is Liesel Meminger, and she is a German girl growing up in Nazi Germany.  The book begins in 1939, when Liesel and her brother are on their way to live with foster parents.  On the way, her brother dies, and Death comes to claim him.  She steals her first book when her brother is buried.  This is a book I listening to on CD, borrowed from the library.

Magicians of Caprona
by Diana Wynne Jones

The second book (according to the overdrive website) in the Chronicles of Chrestomanci.  Tonino Montana must find the words to the song "Angel of Caprona" in order to save the city.  He is helped by Benvenuto, the family's head cat, and Angela Petrocchi.  I read this as an ebook from the overdrive website.
