Movies I Feel the Need to "Review"...
Since I see at least one new movie every week, I needed to have a page dedicated to recent moves that I've seen and want to chit-chat about. I only picked the most recent ones or the few that I saw a while ago but loved so much I had to jot them down. When I see new movies, I will try to update this page since I know you're all dying to know what I thought of them.
Vanity Fair - This movie rocked my socks. But I have a thing for anything British, and especially British period pieces. I mean I've see all of this guy's movies. I have yet to read the book that this was based on, but if the movie is anything like it I know I will love it. I can't believe Reese (Witherspoon) was pregnant during the making of this! She's braver than I. 10/10......100/10 for him and him
The Notebook - This was so sad! I've never read any of Nicholas Sparks' books, but this was a great storyline. It was also a heartbreaking love story with not-so-bad acting on the mainly young cast. Dunno if I'd risk another sobfest to see it again. 9/10
The Grudge - I'll admit it wasn't the best horror movie out there, but it beat the hell out of The Village and the fucking noise that creature made creeped me out!!! It probably also had something to do with the fact that I watched it alone in my living room in pitch darkness and then had to stay alone in the dark house afterward. Maybe. 8/10
Million Dollar Baby - This. Was. Fantastic. It was pure gold. In my eyes, it's the best movie in a real long time. I don't usually go for Eastwood movies, but Mystic River was good so I saw this and let me tell you, it blew Mystic River out of the water! Don't even get me started on what Oscars it deserves. 100/10
The Wedding Date - This was rather dumb. I don't think Deborah Messing is ready for the big screen. She's great on Will & Grace, but seeing her 40 feet high just didn't sit right with me. The plot was recycled (ummmm, hello?) and the acting was questionable at times. Why were they all so stupid? Oh yeah, romantic comedy. 6/10
Hide & Seek - Robert DeNiro is better than this. Not the worst movie I've ever seen (can we say The Village? Yes we can) but DeNiro is so much better than this. So is Dakota Fanning. I'll admit the "twist" surprised me, which I guess is the sign of a good movie. 7/10
Coach Carter - I don't usually like sports movies, and I have no interest in basketball whatsoever, but this was a really well made, interesting movie. Maybe it was Sam Jackson. He's hypnotizing. (Oh, and it didnt hurt that this guy was in it too) 8/10
Napoleon Dynamite - Such a dumb movie and yet such a classic already. "Tina you fat lard come get some food!" I can't go anywhere on campus without hearing a quote from this movie. Even people who haven't seen it are quoting it. It's all insane. 4/10...9/10 for the quotes
Angels in America - I read the play but didn't remember any of it, but this movie brought me to tears at least thrice. And not just because I'm a "fag hag". The acting was to-die for, especially Justin Kirk's, and it was such a beautiful storyline. I use that word alot. 11/10
The Phantom of the Opera - BEAUTIFUL. GORGEOUS. I've never seen the play but I knew the gist of it. The movie was well acted and directed, the actors sang beautifully, and did I mention it was fucking gorgeous? 10/10
Alexander - This was garbage. Was there a story? Coulda fooled me. Was there any acting? I didn't see any. Even Angelina was wasted with the piss-ass script they gave her. -0/10
A Home at the End of the World - Another incredible movie. I had the pleasure of watching this and Eternal Sunshine in the same weekend. What a perfect weekend that was. Dallas and Colin were heartbreakingly poignant and my heart aches everytime I think of the ending. 10/10
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - What can I say? It was incredible. A beautiful movie. Should win an Oscar for Screenplay at least. I love it when Jim Carrey does drama and this was like his best movie ever. 11/10
National Treasure - Ok, it had it's ups and it's downs. Nic Cage is past his prime. The little sidekick guy had all the best lines and without him the movie woulda sucked big time. But I think it did do a good job at making all that stuff you forgot from history class more interesting. 7/10
The Incredibles - This was no Finding Nemo, but it was such a good movie. Soooo cute. I loved the baby and the whole idea of all these superheros running around undercover like that. So good. 9/10
