The Master first appears in Buffy's dreams during this episode. The Master's followers: Luke and Darla are awaiting him to rise. The Master rises out of a pool of blood. He is helped by Luke. The Master is weak and Luke assures him he will regain his strength from the Harvest. He asks Luke to bring him something young. |
The Harvest
|
Jesse is brought as an offering to The Master. The Master is furious to find that he has already been tasted by Darla. The Master learns that the Slayer is in town. He's worried that Buffy will interfere with the Harvest. Angel reveals to Buffy that the Master was trapped in the Hellmouth and during the Harvest he will be freed. He sets a trap for her that she escapes. Giles tells Buffy that The Master tried to Open the Hellmouth, but due to an Earthquake, he was trapped. The Master lets Luke drink from him which allows him to feel the souls of the people Luke killed. This helps revive him, but when Luke dies, the Master is stopped from being freed. |

The Master learns that there will be an Anointed One appointed to be his warrior and that the slayer will not know who he is. The Master orders his followers to find the Anointed One. Later the Master Welcomes the Anointed One. A young boy named Collin. |
Angel

After learning Buffy has killed a strong
vampire, both Darla and Collin offer to kill Buffy for the Master.
The Master instead sends for the Three, a trio of strong vampire assassins.
After the Three fail, the Master doesn't kill them because he doesn't care,
but Darla takes care of them.
Darla tells The Master of her plan to force Angel to kill Buffy. The Master agrees with it. When the Master learns that Darla has been staked, he gets violent and begins to throw things around the room. Collin tells him to forget about her, but the Master tells him she had been by his side for 400 years. Collin assures him they will get revenge. |
Nightmares

Buffy has a nightmare that the Master tries
to kill her.
The Master is talking to Collin about fear. He says his senses a psychic force from up above that plays with fear. While Nightmares are coming true, Buffy thinks she meets The Master in the cemetery. Buffy realizes that this is just a dream, but the Master throws her into an open grave. |
Prophecy Girl

Before Buffy's final confrontation with him, Giles discovered a prophecy that Buffy will die when she faces the Master. The Master kills her by biting her neck and letting her drown in a pool of water, but Xander revived her. Buffy defeated the Master and his death closed the Hellmouth. |

The Wish | The Master made an appearance in The Wish where in an alternative reality, the Hellmouth is open and the Master is in charge. The Master kills Buffy. |
Darla

The Master appears, disguised as a priest
to Darla when she was dying. He talked about her soul and she revealed
she was a prostitute. He then revealed who he really was. Darla
was not surprised at his appearance.
Later when the Master first meets Angelus, they spar but in the end Darla choses Angelus over the Master. |
