| The dark night of the soul A dream by Faust Amoyo |

| I dreamt that I was on the seashore at night. The moon looked so big, twice its normal size. It was a starless night; the moonlight outshone all the stars. The seawater looked so dark, as calm waves made them dance like curtains. I leaned and knelt on the shadowed sand, seeing how sea foam tickled the curious legs of the lovely sea creatures that shyly hid in their beautifully decorated shells. Then I found myself walking on the water sur-face. As I looked around I saw no shore. The moon reflection on the sea was big, clear and lovely, I watched it dance on the calm waves. Everything was calm and sweet. I could hear lovely vo-cals. They reminded me of the enigmatic soundtracks that I loved in mystery movies. With those invisible lips giving me the wisdom of sound everything that I saw looked exceedingly beau-tiful. Suddenly I found myself in the middle of a leafless forest. As I looked around me I could only see leafless tress. The sea was still there and the trees grew out of it. The sight of the moon from between the leafless branches was so evocative, so inspir-ing so nocturnal.
From between the leafless branches came numerous fireflies, I could see their light come and go from behind the trees. Their light was glittering in the starless night, yet it never outshone the wonderful moon. Suddenly I found myself approaching land. There was no shore, just a rocky drift, at the edge of that drift there stood monks, sealed in their black cloaks. I couldnt see their faces as they were obscured by the darkness of the lovely night, but I knew that they were males and females. They were looking at me and chanting with mysterious words. Quickly the dream shifted again. I found myself climbing the drift. I was finally at the top, but when I looked around all the monks were gone. And when I looked at my back I found no sea either. I was in the middle of an endless desert. The earth was cracked and looked brick red. I was lonely amidst this endless desert. It was the desert where nothing peeped in and everybody was a stranger. I could not walk much and I slept on the cracked earth and closed my eyes. As I did, I opened my eyes and woke up. |
