Copy a Line

Objective:

Copy the  line segment AB.

 

1.- Draw a line segment longer than AB

     (see the green line below segment AB).     

2.- On the longer line, label a point that 

      corresponds to point A

      (Point C is the beginning of the

      new line).

3.-  With a compass, measure the 

      length of the segment AB.

4.- Place the tip of the compass at pint C  

    and transfer the length of segment AB to

      the green line (see figure).

     - Label the the last point  (D).

     - Segment AB should be of the same

       distance as segment CD.
