Warzone: Fight For Justice CD (Victory)

Review by Tuomas Koskinen

Like everyone knows, Warzone is one of the best NYHC bands. This is their album from 1997.

This album is more punk or should I say more oi! than their split with Cause For Alarm or their albums "Don't Forget the Struggle..." and "Open Your Eyes." I don't know if it is a bad or good thing. But still, Warzone is good old school hardcore. This is the kind of stuff I like to listen. This is raw and sincere.

The worst thing in this album is that the vocals are mixed too high, the guitars are too low. Now you can hear the lyrics, but if there were more guitar sound I think this would kick more ass. But it doesn't really bother me now that I have gotten used to it.

There are lots of good sing-a-long parts and backing vocals. That's always good thing.

Lyrics are guaranteed Raybeez stuff about unity and injustice. Not too political, but they are not just words after words. I think Raybeez wrote really good lyrics.

All songs are good, but my favorite songs are Brotherhood And Sisterhood, Rebels Till We Die and Hopeless Nation. Rebels Till We Die has good and powerful oi! parts and Hopeless Nation has a great whoo-oo backing vocals a la Misfits.

A great surprise was also a secret track, which is Blitz's Nation On Fire. First I was like "where have I heard this before?", but when the chorus came I knew it was Nation On Fire. And after that I had to put Blitz's Voice of the Generation on my turntable.

This album is good old school hardcore. Even though the vocals are mixed too high, it doesnt bother me that much.
