One of the most generic subjects in punk & hardcore songs is UNITY punks and skinheads together, fighting for common goals, supporting each other. But does this really work? Can a vegan-sXe kid accept a non-political skinhead who eats MEAT and drink BEER? Can a patriotic skinhead get along with an anarchist drunk-punk who might as well be a HIPPIE?
It is in my opinion that this is possible. I truly believe that punks and skins can go to the same gig, watch the same bands without fighting. I don't mean just punk and skins, I mean everyone who thinks differently and who doesn't wanna be part of that majority ideology, that is, doing what youre told without question.
Everyone of us is somehow different, but so what? Every fight needs someone to start it. If someone wants to fight, why doesnt he go to fight with someone who wants to fight as well? We're all involved in the same shit, why waste our energy fighting each other? Maybe you don't think the same way as someone else, but so what? He can still be good guy. We should give everyone a change. We should be smarter than the four-year-old boy who doesnt want to play with Frank because he has glasses."
After all of this preaching about unity, I think I should make it clear that we shouldn't tolerate intolerance. I am of course talking about those white supremacists. "Tell me who's pure, tell me who's right" to quote the Gorilla Biscuits. No one should be afraid just because theyre different. One race, the human race.
Put aside your differences and sing loud, sing proud!
