After hearing 3 songs from The Trouble, it was only matter of time before I would buy their CD.
As many of you may know, these Boston boys have broken up and I guess Nobody Laughs Anymore is the only full length they released. When I listening this record, I'm gonna tell you, we've lost a really great band.
The Trouble sounds like a great mix between old school hardcore, oi!, punk, and rock. It's "in yer face!" hardcore with an oi! attitude. It's kind of like Warzone, but not even close to it. Honest oi!core or something. Great stuff anyway, no matter what you call it.
The lyrics are about frustration, struggling, getting betrayed etc. Usual stuff, nothing really fantastic, but I like 'em. If the lyrics are angry and honest, like in this case, I'm sold. The line, "Nobody smiles anymore, I tried it but I'm still bored" in Grasping at Straws is enough said. I think that it is kind of beautiful.
Songs like We Are The Blood, Burned Up, Washed Out, End Of Rope, This Ones For You and Grasping At Straws are perfect songs to listen to when you're fucked up and so is Teenage Terror which is the most hardcore song on this album. The last three tracks are more punk rock than the rest of album and those songs are fucking good too. I especially like Youth is Wasted by the Young. It tells you that we shouldn't grow up too fast. All of those MTV wankers should hear that song. There's also covers from Satan's Rat (You Make Me Sick) and the secret track is Joy Division's song where they sing "I rememberrrr... when we young." Well, it's not a secret anymore...
What else I can say? This is great record and you should buy this if you want some street credibility ;-)
