The Midnight Creeps: Doomed from the Get Go (Rodent Popsicle)

Review by Dora Hammerle

I have always been one for femme vocals in punk. If its done right, it will kick your ass, but unfortunately all too often girl fronted punk bands sing about nothing but getting fucked over by men & how much it sucks being female. Ill tell you right now, the Midnight Creeps are nothing like that! They do nothing but rock.

This fully-charged band from Providence drags you in with their version of The Ballad of GG (originally by Jonee Earthquake) which, I shit you not, says dont fuck with me 23 times how bout that for punk rock aggression!? This is an ideal song to play to put the other fucking retard kids in the dorm in their place, though this only works for me & a select few. Do I suggest you play this for your boss? No...I would say not.

Other favorite songs of mine include Nitetime Nasty, Doomed from the Get Go, Menstrual Institution, All for One and Fuck Em All, Jaynie, Toilet Bowl Suicide, & Brainwash (yes, I realize this is pretty much every song on the album). Even the songs that arent my favorites are good, not worth skipping over.

As for albums that were released in 2002, there is a tie for my number 1 slot Doomed from the Get Go & Sing, Sing Death House (The Distillers). This CD is definitely worth picking up.

No review of the Midnight Creeps would be complete without imploring the readers to see these girls & guys live. There is nothing quite like a Creeps show. Its nearly impossible to find words to describe it, so I'll leave it at highly sexual & energetic. If you dont believe me, go to their website & look at the pictures (w00t! w00t!)
