The Haunted: One Kill Wonder (Earache)

By Tommi Lindqvist

I'm sure the band had some pressure when doing this album, because the first two records were almost perfect pieces of thrash metal; tough and kicking. Having said that, I must say that this one is a bit of a disappointment. The songs are hard, even harder than in their first albums, but not as catchy as for example 'Hate Song' from the first LP.

The lyrics deal with religion (critical), society (critical), and life in general (even more critical). Basically this has only 9 songs, the first song is an intro and in the middle there is an instrumental song which I never count as an actual song.

My copy is a special edition CD; it came in a cardboard box with six postcards of pictures of the band. This was kind of lame, but it cost only 2 euros more than the regular version so I took it. I hope this is a limited edition of only like 100 copies so when The Haunted becomes the biggest metal band in the world (bigger than Slayer) I am one of the few to own the Ltd Edt of this.

I'm going to see them at this summer's Tuska festival in Helsinki and I know that various songs like 'D.O.A', 'Shithead' and 'Godpuppet' from this album will make the pit do some circular movement.
