The Blaster Master: I'm in a Hurry MCD (Johanna Kustannus)

Review by Tuomas Koskinen

The Blaster Master is from Oulu, a town in northern Finland. It's kind of hard for me to review ska-records because I haven't listened to that much ska, but I can say that this is good. For me, the most important thing in ska music is that it puts me in a good mood and this record is no exception.

This MCD has only three songs and that's a shame. As I have said before, I hate (well, not really hate...) records when there are only two or three songs. There should be a law that records should have at least six songs!

I think the first song "I'm in a Hurry" is the best song but "Stop That Bully" is not a bad either. The third song is a really odd instrumental dub-remix or something. I don't like that one, but those are probably for those who are more interested this kind of music may like it.

A damn good hip hop artist, Paleface, is featured in "Stop That Bully" and this record was co-produced by Lex Luthor who produced many hip hop records. There's some kind of scene-cooperation and that's great! But those who don't like hip-hop should not be afraid; this record doesn't have any obvious hip hop influences.

Track List:
1. I'm in a hurry
2. Stop that bully
3. No hurry (Acidroot's Sweet Sensimilla dub-remix)
