The Actors
Scott Speedman
Scott Speedman made his American television series debut on Imagine Television and Touchstone Television's acclaimed series "Felicity." Most recently he starred in "The 24th Day" with James Marsden. He has also had leading roles in "Underworld" opposite Kate Benkinsale, "My Life Without Me" with Sarah Polley and Mark Ruffalo, and Bruce Paltrow's "Duets," opposite Academy Award-winner Gwyneth Paltrow, Maria Bello and Paul Giamatti. Scott currently has several films in the workds.

Speedman discovered his passion for acting on a dare, when he accepted a challenge from a friend to appear on "Speakers Corner," an open forum show where people can speak their minds, on Much Music -- Canada's version of MTV. He sat down, gave his name and number, and declared his interest in playing the role of Boy Wonder in "Batman Forever," which was casting in Toronto at the time. Within two weeks, Speedman received a call from Warner Bros. to come in and audition. Although he didn't get the part, the casting director put him in touch with an agent, launching his acting career.

Speedman then began to gain attention through his work in the short feature "Can I Get A Witness." The film was developed at the Norman Jewison Film Center in Toronto and was screened at the 1996 Toronto International Film Festival. Soon after, he landed the lead role in the Canadian feature "Kitchen Party," an off-beat comedy that explored the ironies of life in suburbia. Speedman then began studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York, before landing the role on "Felicity."

Having never performed on the stage before, Speedman spent the summer of 1999 in his native Toronto starring in the Edward Albee play "Zoo Story" at the Equity Theater.

Born in London, England, and raised in Toronto, Canada, Speedman spent most of his youth immersed in athletics, following in the footsteps of his mother who held a world record in running. At ages 12 and 14, Speedman was a part of the relay swim team that held the national record for the 400-meter medley. In 1992, as a member of the Canadian Junior National Swim Team, he performed well at the Olympic trials but suffered a neck injury soon after and was forced to leave the sport.

When not working, Speedman enjoys running, hiking, camping, reading and playing basketball and tennis. He currently divides his time between Los Angeles and Toronto.
