BIOGRAPHY
I seriously began to take pictures in 1991, when I was thirty years old.
This happened because I "discovered" the black and white photography
at an exibition.
Of course it was not a tecnological discover, but a personal
finding of the expressional potentiality of of such a technique; it is
most likely that up to that moment, I had considered the black and white
photography only for is historical value.
I was even more fascinated when I found out that it was relatively easy to
obtain interesting images with the help of a modest equipment, whitout making
use of a professional laboratory.
Thanks to the darkroom, up to that moment mysterious to me, I learnt that
it is possible to minimize, to enfatize or even to twist the reality, the
emotion or the suggestion that the eye does catch when it first looks throught
the camera. I immediatly thought that the photography, that up to that
moment had beeen only a hobby during my holidays, could became the
right media to communicate, was what I had always been looking
for.
The need to talk and to compare my first experiences brought me to a photoclub,
"Il Torrione" in Romans d'Isonzo (Gorizia -
Howhever I belive that the essential and significant event for my photographic
activity, was meeting Roberto Salbitani and attending
his workshops, at the "Scuola di Fotografia nella Natura" in
Mogginano (Arezzo-Italy).
Very important to me were, more over, the workshops with Francesco Radino
in Poffabro (Pordenone, Italy, 1994); with Joan Fontcuberta in
S.Marino (Italy,1995), the experience as assistant to Frank Dituri
and to Joan Powers during the photographic workshops in Spilimbergo
(Pordenone-Italy 1996), and finally, last but not least, the experience as
assistant at the "Benham studio Gallery" of Seattle in may 2000
.
