Kent Collins has been working the past four months to open Chico Eco Cars, a small soon-to-be-dealership on Entler Avenue off the Midway. He only has four used neighborhood electric vehicles right now, but wants to eventually sell specialty electric vehicles and any gas-powered alternate vehicles that are fuel efficient, he said. "With the direction things are going, we'd be limiting ourselves if all rental cars in jamaica I only sold electric cars," Collins said. The first electric vehicle was made in 1998, but Chico Eco Cars will be the first electric vehicle dealership in Chico. Collins' smooth, soundless Global Electric Motocars drive like golf carts and are the first no-emission basic design of mousetrap cars vehicles — NEVs — sold by a major automaker. GEM is owned by a subsidiary of Chrysler and the cars are manufactured in North Dakota. GEM NEVs are federally classified as "low-speed vehicles," which permits them to be driven on community streets with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less if they meet certain safety standards, Collins said. NEVs, which come with two, four and six seats, must be cars birthday favors equipped with seat belts, headlights and windshield wipers to be legal on the road. Street mode is convenient while traveling to the grocery store, school or running errands, Collins said. While in street mode, NEVs can reach a top speed of 30 mph, but are required to stay at 25 mph. Chico Eco Cars will be the official dealership for the vehicles, and Collins plans used cars babylon new york to explore experimental vehicles to provide more options to buyers. He will also open a customizing shop where buyers can have their vehicle decorated to their liking, such as flames on the side and bright colors. A "soft" opening is planned for around Aug. 15 once the DMV clears Collins to be open for business, he said. A grand opening is planned for September, when Collins hopes to have a variety of electric scooters and neighborhood electric vehicles available.
