Roses are stacked like potatoes
In the flower market each morning
"Se Venden Flores," read the signs,
"Wholesale Only"
I suppose
I might have loved you differently,
better, somehow.
But flowers
sell themselves wholesale
still, in the spangled flower market
each grimy dawn.
