Shan Cai is the female lead in Meteor Garden. She is a strong woman in her own right and she has a mind of her own. She never gives up even with the daunting F4 You'll Be Dead note. She won't let Ah Si control her, she wants an equal relationship with him. At the start, she finds herself crushing on Lei, but in the end she finally understands that the one she loves can only be Ah Si.

Dao Ming Si is the male lead and the leader of the F4. He is arrogant and stubborn, the heir to the Dao Ming fortune. He has a sister, Dao Ming Zhuang, who is a lot like him, and his mother, Dao Ming Feng, is as headstrong as her son. Even though is tends to be very violent and tempermental in the beginning, everything gradually gets better as he changes because of his love for Shan Cai.

Hua Ze Lei is the solemn, thoughtful one in the F4 group. He is often found on the rooftop by himself, thinking about things. He is in love with Teng Tang Jing in the beginning, though in the end it seems that he has developed repressed feelings for Shan Cai. He is always the one there for Shan Cai whenever she needs help and protection and support.

Xi Men is the playboy of the F4 group. He says that every girl has an expiry date of one week. He never seems serious about girls, but he is serious about maintaining the F4 group as a whole. He is a good friend to Ah Si and in the end, it seems that perhaps Xiao You has influenced him a bit.

Mei Zuo is a faithful friend in the F4 group, his role is the most minor though since he doesn't even have a side story in his name. But nonetheless he remains an encouraging factor in the group, helping to assist Ah Si and Shan Cai's relationship.

Xiao You is Shan Cai's best friend from high school. They work together at the Italian Tomato cake store. She is a helpful friend and she has a crush on F4 member Xi Men after he helps her with a messy break up.

Qian He is another one of Shan Cai's old schoolmates. He comes to the prestigious college after his parents have a windfall and he is always there for Shan Cai as well. He secretly likes Shan Cai.

Teng Tang Jing is Lei's first love. She's two years older than him, but she likes him as well. However, she wants to make a life for her own so she goes to France and leaves him, becoming engaged as well.

Xiao Zi is Ah Si's fiance. She really likes Ah Si, but he doesn't like her as anymore than as a friend. She accepts that though because she also becomes friends with Shan Cai.
