Advice
Don't hide behind the couch
You know someone will always find you
Remember to clear the history
And don't make a sound after bedtime
Hide the books, the pons, the pills
In the bottom drawer along with the rest
Be secretive about everything
From your poems to what you will wear tomorrow
Revise your account of what you have eaten
Practise your smile with which you greet
Your mum and dad after the hardest day
In order to keep them from worry
And you from interrogation
For it gets in you
Beyond your wildest dreams
And speaking of dreams
The one you had last night
It didn't mean anything when you smiled
But the one you have just about every night
That one is real and will haunt you
Another secret from the bottom drawer
Your box is full to the brim
Gets close to the time to clear it out
Memories, but I can't yet they'll spill
Like juice on your mums favourite carpet
Such a disgrace she son't be too happy
With you and yourself and maybe me too
Run to your room and cover your ears
Immerse yourself in music
And write a few lines about life and of love
Wonder remember imagine be clever
Think
And never stop to sleep
